AEHD - Applied Engineering High Density Floppy

I just got one of these recently.
It's apparently the first high density drive available for the Amiga. Built like a Mac drive (Applied Engineering, makes sense) with an electronic eject.

Works great with 1.3 kickstart.
Supposedly works with 2.0 kickstart. (I don't have..)
Doesn't work with 3.x kickstart.

They include a program for you to run early in the startup-sequence.
DEVS:AETD.device
And that patches the trackdisk.device to be able to use this drive.
I tried extracting a trackdisk.device from a 2.0 ROM and using loadmodule to load it on my 1200, but loadmodule wouldn't load it.
I'm assuming because that would be a big downgrade... Wouldn't be my first choice for a long term solution anyway.. ;-)

Now, I know nothing about patching ROMs.. (And lots of other things..)
I am assuming that it would not be trivial to look at the program (or a compare of a before/after patched trackdisk.device) to make a patch for 3.x ROMs????

I figure not, but thought I'd check...

It's a neat drive either way..

Only other 2 problems I have with it are:

1: It comes with an EjectKey program that I think (no manual) gives you a softkey to eject it, but I haven't been able to find out what key and no (that I can tell) command line options. ;-)
-Never mind on that one. The install program had another screen I hadn't clicked on with info about that.. Key ejecting works, tho I'm not sure why I'd need it..

2: It doesn't work with Kickwork. On my A1000, once I load the driver, I lose access to Kickwork partition. Apparently it's trackdisk.device patch stomps all over the Kickwork trackdisk.device patch. :-) No surprise there really..

p.s. I do have the original floppy driver disk.. Is there a good place I could send that disk, so it's available for other Amiga users if someone were to look for it?? I can't imagine it has any copyright issues, but?? Aminet or ??? Just wondering..
