It works using a 4000/060 if you have all the libs requirements. (it requests silly things like AmiTCP assigns because of Ixemul bloat).
However! It only works on RTG screens here, i cant get it to start on a native AGA screen. so if you are trying on your A1200 just give up now ;-) |

It is clear by everyone's account on this thread that this port doesn't *just* need an FPU, it requires much more.

This is what it does here:
Count Process Name Action Target Name Options Res. ----- ------------ ------ ----------- ------- ---- 1 WBL Load iconx OK 2 iconx OpenLib icon.library Ver 37 OK 3 [1] Execute OpenLib utility.library Ver 0 OK 4 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib ixemul.library Ver 63 OK 5 ramlib Load LIBS:ixemul.library OK 6 ramlib OpenLib mathieeesingbas.library Ver 0 OK 7 ramlib OpenLib mathieeedoubbas.library Ver 0 OK 8 ramlib OpenLib mathieeedoubtrans.library Ver 0 OK 9 ramlib OpenLib mathieeedoubbas.library Ver 45 OK 10 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib ixnet.library Ver 44 Fail 11 ramlib Load LIBS:ixnet.library OK 12 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib bsdsocket.library Ver 3 Fail 13 ramlib Load LIBS:bsdsocket.library Fail 14 ramlib Load bsdsocket.library Fail 15 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib cybergraphics.library Ver 0 OK 16 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib intuition.library Ver 39 OK 17 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib graphics.library Ver 39 OK 18 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib cybergraphics.library Ver 40 OK 19 [3] grafx2.exe OpenLib lowlevel.library Ver 37 OK Tbh seeing its a SDL port that doesn't support native modes etc i think you are better off using a native Amiga tool like PPaint. |

As far as I know there exists an SDL version for AGA and I guess Akira is using this version.

Yeah but Locutus is right, this is barely usable on a real Amiga, best not to bother. It's a shame because I really love grafx2 and it has replaced DPaint in my life for at least 90% of things.

I've tried getting this running on my 1200 in the past. If an AGA friendly version exists, I've never seen it.

Its also just a lot slower, select a large brush size and freehand draw and the filling drags behind the cursor.
Also things like floodfills are much slower. I tried it a bit and i dont feel its really comfortable on real hardware. |

Obviously this is a quick port for the sake of porting, grafx2's main fork has been on a slow dev cycle so it'd be great to take advantage of this slowness, if somebody would port it NATIVELY to Amiga so you don't need SDL or other shit and it could run on modest hardware, it'd be a killer app.

I'm with Akira here - looks to be an amazing application but doesn't seem to work for me either.
When I try to run it I get a black screen with a normal cursor and nothing more. Have to reboot even though cursor moves around and such. Would be great if this application was tested and proven working "optimized" on a wide range of real Amiga hardware. I tried on an ECS A500 1MB chip + V500v2+ accelerator (128MBs Fast Ram + 8M RTG & FPU) Found the application on my own, tried to get it working, found this topic when I failed. *sigh* |

I wouldn't bother with this AMiga version either way, it's a hackjob. There is not much reason to use grafx2 on a platform where you can already use both Deluxe Paint and Personal Paint. |

Ii by "installing SDL" you mean copying over the one library file to LIBS: than yeah. Everything else seems to be about compiling and compilers which I do not have or wish to explore. I'm OK with never touching this again until it's ever improved. I just like the look of it and the capabilities - seems a more modern approach to pixel art on 68k. |

I like grafx2 only in the context of it running in a platform that doesn't natively support DPaint or PPaint. You don't need grafx2 on an Amiga system, it really isn't better or "more modern", actually it tries to copy DPaint as much as it can, which again, is great, if you can't use DP.
The Amiga port is a hackjob and not worth paying much attention to if it doesn't work right off the bat. |

2.5wip for amiga seems to work except when using jit then the gradient menu fades to black causing every menu to fade to black leaving one totally in the dark so to speak. Other than that mostly it seems to work under AfA OS I think.

It doens't have many animation capabilities besides "you can make many frames and export to Animated GIF". Not sure what you expect, but things like light table/onion skinning are not available I think.
The main problem with grafx2 at the moment is that, sadly, it hasn't been updated in a century. |

Mr AMIGASYSTEM do you have the problem of the Gradation/Cycle menu immediately fading to black (all colours)... requiring a reboot?

WinUAE it's an Amiga in all respects, unlike the Royal it will never disappear, use WinUAE or the Real is the same thing, carcasses apart.
If only Toni wanted, OS3 on WinUAE it could become the most powerful Amiga in the world, even if it is already now. .. You say that WinUAE Not a real Amiga, but use it to do the i backup, preparare Hardisk, floppy CD etc.. Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 24 April 2018 at 20:47. |
