Amiga 4000D Ctrl-A-A not working.

Greetings.

My Amiga 4000 with 4000 keyboard does not softboot when pressing ctrl-amiga-amiga. The caps lock light comes on for a second when I try so I guess all keys in the keyboard works. Not sure if the caps lock light is supposed to light up for a second but it does.

Any idea what to look for otherwise?

Sounds to me like the keyboard is resetting, but for some reason this reset signal is not received by the Amiga. Broken connection somewhere?

as demolition suggests, the first place to look is if the reset wire between keyboard and amiga is damaged.

yep sounds like the reset line has been damaged somehow, yes the caps lock light is supposed to flash once if you do a three finger salute.

had the same problem on a a2000 keyboard.

Any hints where that is? =)

Edit: Never mind. Think I found it.. http://Www.grandis.nu/images/A4000keyboard.JPG

now to see where those goes =)

Edit2: Could it be... around THERE perhaps? =) http://Www.grandis.nu/images/A4000keyboard2.JPG

Edit3: So, without looking at schematics, cause I can not find any, or a picture of the inside of a A4000 keyboard, my guess would be to run the black and red cable like this: http://Www.grandis.nu/images/A4000keyboard3.JPG
Looks ok?

Edit4: Anyone got a picture of the inside of an A4000 keyboard?

Edit5: Wth? Is this an A-500 converted keyboard? Heh. Mitsumi PCB A-500. The holes I show on the pics are for the LEDs. Wonder where the reset go then or if the red and black wires even go anywhere. Seems I've been sold a not-really-a-A4000-keyboard-but-it-looks-like-one keyboard on ebay.

just had look at the A4000 schematics.. I thought there was a reset line all the way from the keyboard to the mobo (like on the A500), but it seems the kbd_reset signal is generated by gary from the kbdclk signal.. This means that the faulty connection is *not* in the spiral cable between keyboard and amiga (presuming the keyboard works in general ;-)..

As you guys deduced, the a500 keyboard has a separate wire that resets the Amiga, and the big box Amigas pulse the clock (and data? can't remember) and the motherboard detects this and generates the reset signal there.

Some A500 keyboards can be configured to send a big box compatible reset pulse by removing transistor Q1, so perhaps try that to see if you can get a reset going.
