The FULL version of Roadshow is NOW available to buy
From today, the full version of the Roadshow TCP/IP stack is available to buy through the APC&TCP online store.
Roadshow is an Amiga TCP/IP stack, that allows you to connect to the Internet, to access your e-mail, web pages, chat, etc. It can also be used to access and exchange files within your local home network. Roadshow is one of the fastest, if not THE fastest Amiga TCP/IP stacks. Some features include: - Amiga-ised configuration utilities rather than the terse and somewhat cryptic Unix legacy tools - DHCP configuration for Ethernet devices - "TCP:" device support, for use with, for example, ARexx scripts - Enhanced & cleaned-up software development kit, that includes the complete source code to all the configuration tools and sample programs and ... much more ... http://roadshow.apc-tcp.de http://www.apc-tcp.de |

And now there's version 1.7 listed on RoadShow-website . But how can I check which version I have? I think the download link was 1.6...

What is the advantage for my 50 MHz Amiga in comparison to Miami? What improvement do I get?

Well depending you will get quite a bit faster internet access and the speed fluctuation seems to be at minimum compared to MiamiDX. I got ~500 cp/sec (heavy speed fluctuation) with MiamiDX and now I get ~620-630 cp/sec (quite steady) with RoadShow. Also when you start the TCP/IP stack it's just doubleclick on a script. When stopping the stack it's the same thing.
The setting up was also easy. There are readymade scripts for quite a bit different configurations. And no more guessing if the miggy can find an ip address, the DHCP in RoadShow works nicely. Oh, and the version was 1.7 so I happened to purchase it the same day it was updated . Version can be checked reading the 'Version' -file in the root of RoadShow-archive. |

I have A1230 with PCMCIA network card running thru cnet.device over SANA-II. I have a suspicion that nothing can speed up this as hardware limitaions are just given. Am I wrong? I use internet connection on that Amiga only for Jabber, Aminet and FTP. On the other hand I think Roadshow - if faster than Miami - could be suitable for web browsing on hi-end Amigas such as 3000/4000.

Unfortunately, I've only had time to test with my Zorro A4066, and the DENEB. In both cases, Roadshow is faster than the other stacks using SANA-II drivers, and uses a bit less CPU. I would definitely try the demo and compare them using something like tcpspeed - I bet Roadshow performs better.
