DOS command prompt under Windows 10

Hi guys

I have Windows 7 and under this system i use the DOS command prompt to execute some command line programs

Now the question is : under Windows 10 this DOS command prompt is still present ?

Or, anyway, is still possible to execute command line programs ?

Thanks, chip

Most will be okay but some require true DOS environment. Using DOSBox for these is another option or Virtual Machine Windows 98 or DOS!

I've been testing 10 LTSC edition for months now in VirtualBox to see if any of my custom settings to make it bearable to use on a daily basis would be screwed up after any updates, glad to say that so far none have.

Please tell me you guys are kidding...

Why not use it??

If you worried about telemetry data being captured etc... do following:

Install Win10.

Install this: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/det...10_spying.html

Use better and more stable window. I tested it on old hardware (as well on new) and works much better then Win7.

Not kidding, after the monumental failure I had with 10 Pro 3-4 years ago with its stupid updates resetting settings each and every time, I had no desire to "upgrade".

But... LTSC doesn't have "feature" updates or other unwanted bloat (except Adobe Flash and IE11 ) that sneaks itself into the installation, seems to be working fine, so far.
We'll see in January 2020 if that's still the case.

Anyone willing to use an OS that requires you to install anti-telemetry patches is an idiot.

+1, BUT it will come the day when you won't have any more choice left than accepting the forced change to this "telemetry"-OS. So everybody will be an idiot
In the meantime this change happens hope this alternative would take care of the HW of my PC .

On a test PC, I manually disabled some "features" of this telemetry-OS but "by magic" the changes were canceled...
I then used a Windows tweaker and 'tada', "magic" again...

Maybe the link you provided point to a more efficient program but no time to test it now.

Quoto Anubis, progress cannot be stopped, who is linked to the old systems is only a nostalgic. An old system does not guarantee anything about safety and nothing in the performance of its work. Win10 has its drawbacks like Win95 had them in comparison to Win3.1 but now Win3.1 no longer knows anyone.

Same for AmigaOS, once the AmigaOS lovers loved the news and followed with frenzy the development of AmigaOS. Now the AmigaOS if we can call them that they do the opposite and deny everything that is new.

In LTSC go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar then turn OFF the setting that says 'Replace Command Prompt with Windows Powershell in the menu when I right-click the start button or press Windows key +X'

Then right-click on the start button and the old command prompt options are back!

^ great tip there. I should start using that, but it'll probably be hard to retrain the slow way that's ingrained to muscle memory
