i have rebel assualt working harfile that i tested with Shapeshifter. i used a 750 MB hardfile. compressed are 416 MB.

@Thairacerjp
you must have a big hardfile to copy Rebel Assualt CD because, i think, when you mount you have 2 files: original iso image and Mounted CD.

I'd love it if someone could make a video from real hardware.

A little question from me: ahem, all the games only work on an emulated Amiga, right?

Shouldn't there be a bit of a speed increase in NTSC 60hz etc

and finally what format is the Rebel Assualt CD ? ISO or HFS???
I'm just thinking how slow is it going to be accessing the HFV from Real CD with the Rebel assault CD Disc image on it might be better to mount the disc image under Amiga or something?

or if it's a standard joilet format just copy the files over to the compilation Disc??

Rebel Assault is Toast image. Of course from CD loading hardfile require more time than from Harddisk.

Accessing HFV on FastFilesystem FFS was always slow but not on other file systems like PFS3 or SFS or even FAT32! on real Amiga but what about ISO 9660.

but if the game can be run off a standard ISO 9660 CD instead maybe theres another way to do it.

Don't know about "virtual disc", but System 7.6.1 has Disk Copy built in and can mount .img files fine. It mounted Rebel Assault fine too. The game can be launched either from the mounted img, or you can copy the executable to HDD.
There is a v1.06 patch in a separate .img on the CD. I copied that to HDD and just ran the game from that.

grats for getting AITD work. If that WinUAE config is really similar to a TF330 then it looks very playable too. (I set emulation speed to cycle exact and boosted CPU by 50% so that it performs almost the same as the real hardware. You can check with Sysinfo.)

edit: I wrote .iso but it's .img. Fixed that.

I tried yours when we started out, it was v7.1 or something like that. Looked the same to me performance-wise as the later releases..

7.5.3 boots similarly quick, 7.6.1 is noticeably slower. I guess it boils down to how many services they start on startup and 7.6 has definitely more of them. (If you keep SHIFT pressed they boot without extensions and both are very quick)

In the meantime I was struggling with AppleScript to auto-start Rebel Assault. Now, I came up with this very advanced script that mounts the image, waits 10 secs and then launches the game no prob...

Code:
global counter

property counter : 0

on idle
	if (counter = 1) then
		-- display dialog "Quitting"
		tell application "MacOS:Rebel Assault"
			activate
		end tell
		return
	end if
	if (counter = 0) then
		tell application "MacOS:Apple Extras:Disk Copy:Disk Copy"
			activate
			mount "RA:GameImage.img"
		end tell
		set counter to 1
	end if
	return 10 -- Idle time in seconds
end idle
...except it doesn't work with ShapeShifter, only Basilisk!

@wairnair, yes it's play from HDD, you know, i still not found the bug who prevent me from transfert via Amiga to shapeshifter, so i use Basilisk on my mac and it's so easy to share data, with basilisk i can choose many image disc (img, iso, toast) and it's work, shapeshifter is not as convenient as him !
did you know a true program who convert nrg,iso, bin or toast to img ? i have tried isobuddy but it's crap, i have burnt nrg image and made iso with imgburn and it's not good for shapeshifter....... keep the good work
ps : and some game asked for 68040, so i have to wait the future card but it's great ! 26 years to see rebel assault on CD32 ah ah.

@Retro1234 , yes, still AGA-EVD, work from img

Try PowerISO.
I'd imagine it would work the other way around.

...or maybe try one of these: https://softadvice.informer.com/Iso_...Converter.html

Hold on, you can make an .IMG file using ImgBurn...

Just mount whatever image file first via Daemon Tools Lite and then create the .IMG from the virtual drive.
