I tried to hear that message in Lotus 2, and I just can't hear it in background. Even listening very loud and with headphones, still no message.

Is it possible that it was removed??

I remember only being able to hear it by pulling one of the audio cables out. Can't remember if it was left or right though.

It should be on the right channel.

It is supposed to be "subliminal" so it is not as loud as the remainder of the samples.
That's why I recommended to open the mod file in a tracker and disable the other channels to hear it. Then you can add the other channels one by one to hear how it plays and how you can still hear it (or not?) while the other samples play.

After all the gloom in the a1200 sucks thread, its nice to focus on some of the fun stuff..

Second:ed the "ICE CREAM!" sample and lemmings nuke, always got a good laugh from that one.

so on third and fourth place
  • Stuntcar racer, null modem with your buddies on roller coaster track
  • IK luring your unsuspecting victim into the ushiro geri/turn kick. Actually the whole gameplay style if IK+ with exact hit areas.. I don't get why everyone went with SF2 hit boxes :/

Or raise the sample volume
I've simply changed it from $10 to $40 in the module and is (rather) audible.

Finally I get to hear the "Do not copy this game" at 12 seconds into this mod.

Thanks ross

Can I just answer "The whole of Cannon Fodder" ?

First the game opening with a SONG WITH LYRICS. That was just "OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS?" when I first heard it. (And both CF1 and CD2 have brilliant lyrics imo)

Then of course the gameplay is just friggin brilliant.

And then, this:

This is one of the most, if not the most powerful image I've ever seen in a videogame. I once had to write an academic paper about videogames and education, and I used Cannon Fodder as an example of a game that could strongly send a message through this kind of media.

This image is freaking brilliant.

Oh and BTW I just found out the last 3 soldiers you get in the game are named WASTER, LOSER and FODDER. Anyone did know that?

cannon fodder - very strong message that game brings and when i realized i can drive a tank on later levels
superfrog - hidden passages
ruff and tumble - flame thrower use
rick dangerous - sliding bombs
the settlers - that feeling when you have your supply chain organised

Weapon stash in "Dogs Of War". You could buy amunition not fit to your gun and discover you are in deep trouble just when actual mission started.

Lionheart: the fact that the level design (platform placement etc.) is actually different in hard mode! Not just the monsters are harder but even the levels themselves!

IK+: all the nonsense keys and key combos like * to change sunset colors, t for trousers etc. Brilliant!

Wizkid: the fact it is a breakout adventure game is such a weird idea.

Extase: the interactive music that changes completely in each level.

Gloom: you could play a mini game on a texture. I think it was Space Invaders. It was playable on an arcade machine screen inside the game.

Black Crypt: the demo scene effects when you cast spells.

Ok but it also has the least cool feature of any Amiga game: the fact that you have to blow up those darned huts but both the door and the roof are aggressive heat seeking terminators that will eat your team alive.

That hill with all the gravestones? 75% of them were killed by doors and/or roofs.

In Lotus 2 you can drive under lorry trailers in one of the later levels.

The conversation trees in the communications screens in Supercars 2.

Ice cream in speedball 2 (already mentioned, but super cool)

King Tut's death mask in Deluxe Paint 3.

The little umbrellas in Lemmings.

The bouncy jelly levels in James Pond 2.

The fold-out map of the galaxy with Frontier.

The updraft in Turrican 2.

A lot of cool moments.
