It was either late 88 or early 89. Had been on a YTS, trainee bricklayer for 6 months and saved up like mad. Sold my C64 for about £120. Got a lift off my parents to Evesham Micros and bought one of their A500 packs, think it was about £400, they had bundled loads of shovelware with it. I was short of money and my dad gave me around £50 I think.

It's somewhat satisfying to see that "Never [owned an Amiga]" has not been voted for once in this forum poll yet. I'm glad to see that everyone who's responded so far has at some point in their lives been a bona fide Amiga owner.

Although it is possible that the thread title may mean that someone who has never owned one probably won't even look at the thread as it's not relevant to them.

I owned a third of an A600 with two friends in 1994 as that's the only way we could afford one. (after seeing them for the first time in 1993 at a neighbour's house). Then a whole A1200 to myself in 1995 (still have it to this day)

I think it was December 1989 for me as well... My parents sold the C64 and bought the A500... that was a huge upgrade for my game experience!!!

A1200 Desktop Dynamite pack arrived in the house Christmas 1993. Still one of the best Christmases I can remember.

That very Amiga is still with me, having survived school and the first few years of University as my main machine

US amiga user here, sold my last amiga in 2000. my first was an a500 + 1084s back in 1989.

i had saved up the money to buy it myself, $868, I still remember that.

I bought Sword of Sodan and Menace at a local shop while I was waiting for the 500 to ship to me.

I got a second floppy and trapdoor 512kb for xmas that year.

My memory fails me a bit here. I always thought we had a fairly early A500. But it's a rev5 with 1.2 kickstart, so it definately wasn't 1987. But I'm still not sure whether it was 1988 or 1989. Can't find release dates for the individual revs.

My parents bought me Amiga 1200 HD 40 Mb in Warsaw in 1993. I had to wait 3 years for my first amiga. There was good side of this - in 1992 Commodore made new model so when finally my parents decided to buy computer it was new model instead of popular A500

Parents got me a white box A500 for Xmas 1988 and I was the winner of the Commodore User Nov 88 ( Operation Wolf cover) A500 power-play competition. It took about 9 months to get it from Commodore User Magazine.

December 1990, Screen Gems A500 pack, and the A500 was faulty, but still (more or less) worked with Beast 2. Got replaced in January.

A600 at the end of 2016 / Start of 2017, and A1200 in late 2017

(I'm a little late to the party!!)

But my A600 still doesn't work

even after recapping, and new PSU.
