Mouse wheel wreck keyboard inputs

Hi there !

Maybe it has been discussed before (couldn't find it though...), but if I use my mouse wheel, the keyboard inputs are going nuts ...
Entering "hello world" after using the wheel leads to "©££ø ±ø®£ð"

I'm sure I have missed something, but.... ?

Thanks all !

ALT or some other key mapped to mouse wheel in Input panel? Some buggy keyboard utility or commodity installed on Amiga side?

Does it happen if you boot with clean WB disk?

EDIT: You can also use 2.5.0 (or betas) and check what happens when you click Test button in GamePorts panel (no matter which one) and then move mouse wheel while looking at the bottom part of window.

Hi Tony

Thanks for taking time to answer...
So:
- No keys mapped to mouse wheel
- Don't see any keyboard utility or commodity
- It doesn't happen when I boot with clean WB disk
- Testing the mouse port in GamePorts shows: Wheel (+ or -) Microsoft PS/2 Mouse ---> this made me realize I was using "Windows Mouse" instead of "Microsoft PS/2" ! So I replaced it by MS PS/2 mouse, and no more garbage with the wheel now !

Thanks for the good advices, as always, and sorry for the time you wasted on this !
Best regards

This does not really explain what happened.. Do you have some special mouse driver settings or some other Windows-size mouse programs in use?

(Windows mouse = same events as Windows desktop mouse, other mouse: raw mouse data, bypasses most extra stuff like acceleration etc..)

Are any key presses resulting from turning mouse wheel abnormal? For example Bill's Tomato Game IPF at the code entry portion, spinning wheel FWD prints out a character. Action Replay 3, roll wheel forward=repeating E's, backward=repeating R's. No trouble noticed with plain Workbench though.
2.1.0, 2.3.1, 2.4.1, 2.5.0 tested. Input event settings are never messed with. Gameport panel test the same as what sodapop reported.

It sends "standard" mouse wheel key codes by default. It is possible some old programs detects them as "random" key presses.
