Installing kickstart chip and hd

In February last year I bought an A1200 Amiga Technolgies Magic Pack, since there are disks that won't load because of the floppy drive... Now, I am not going to touch my existing machine, so I'll probably buy a Commodore A1200 from eBay and upgrade the kickstart roms, is it a simple case of pulling off the existing chips and pushing on the replacements?

Also can I just unplug my cf hd and install into the commodore machine?

Basic questions I know, but my Amiga hardware knowledge is limited!
