Exclamation Call for Paypal donation : new hardware needed.

Hi guys,

With the launch of the new HOL and the increase of spiders bots (classic and GPT one), we have seen last months that the current abime.net server was not enough powerfull, resulting in slowdown or downtime.
So I think 2024 will be the good time to upgrade the hardware.
https://old.abime.net/?go=about

Unfortunatly, google ads are now pretty dead (70% less than last year), and our current monthly donators friends are already covering the hosting costs.
(Hosting costs that were multiplied by 2 at the start of the 2023 year because of jump of electricity cost in Europe )

That's why I'm calling for one exceptional Paypal donation until the end of the year, to help me funding the new server
I will display one top banner for EAB's member until the end of year, thanks for everyone who can help !

Donate:
Paypal = https://eab.abime.net/misc.php?do=donate !
BTC = bc1q4aw2ggmrzgdmx8q8jxs60j32kx4ewcyc7vrka3
Bank transfert = PM me for SEPA

Thanks

edit: thanks at ALL for support !

Would a HW donation be accepted? Work (UK) has a lot of DELL rackmount servers that I believe we are going to WEE (recycle). I believe they are Circa 2015. 16-core Xeons with either 16GB or 32GB of DDR4 DRAM. If a HW donation is practical, I can get the exact spec when I'm in the office tomorrow.

Why do you need hardware? Isn't getting a dedicated server somewhere way cheaper? There are Hosting providers that offer a beast of a machine for less than $50 a month.

I'm not familiar with how this is hosted and what kind of requirements you have, but it might be a cheaper solution.

I'm afraid giving a full 1U Poweredge will be too much bigger for postal services (I'm in France), but who knows, send me the spec by PM if you have something to recycle.
On other hand, if you find some Dell SAS 3,5 HDD at 15k, I'm interested

I love bare metal hardware
Maybe one day full Virtual Machine for abime.net will be possible, but at the moment it won't be cheaper.

Someone ask me if he can make a bank transfert to send money because he hate Paypal.
It should be possible with my IBAN number (european bank system), so if you wanna do that, PM me

ps: I can also generate one bitcoin address if you really need
