EAB/Lemon SUMMER SLAM 2019 - Custom Lotus III tracks
EAB/Lemon SUMMER SLAM 2019 - Custom Lotus III - The Ultimate Challenge Tracks Starts: 12:01 June 9th Finishes: 11:59 June 30th Welcome to the first EAB/Lemon SUMMER SLAM. A solitary event that has no effect on the Super League or Knockout. The winner will be crowned as the official EAB/Lemon Summer Slam 2019 Champion! He will also get the right to determine the game for the next Summer Slam: either Lotus 3 again with NEW custom tracks (named after a specific theme) or a completely different game that he chooses. Now let's play and enjoy these nine custom tracks. All have a different scenario. It starts right where Lotus 2 ended: with a storm-track. Then follow wind, forest, fog, marshes, desert, night, snow and finally highway. Like in Lotus 2 all are point-to-point-races with multiple stages (no laps). The first two tracks are for warm-up but from track 3 on it gets challenging. Rules Select the stop-watch for GAME and the question-mark [?] for COURSE, choose any controls on the left side: Select DEFINE to set exactly these nine custom tracks: Code:
LIFESCOOL-99 CAPEHORN -99 HQXUBIDOO-50 JOHNFOURP-40 M A L K O-80 FASTHARRY-70 VJARLLOKI-76 ZLINESMCH-80 TSOULASSN-80 Alternative: WinUAE-users can just use the standalone savestate below to save the hassle of typing in the tracks. Scoring: Score x 4 if you used the Lotus Esprit Score x 2 if you used the Lotus M200 Score x 1 if you used the Lotus Elan Post a picture of your score here with the score and your used Lotus type written underneath. Enter as often as you like. Only scores achieved during the round's time frame count. No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states (well, except for the one provided here). No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect anyone of cheating please let us know in private - anyone found guilty will be banned from all competitions (incl. Super League & Knockout). Remember, ANYONE can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have. Downloads - Disk 1 Disk 2 - WHDLoad-installed - Course File for WHDLoad version (thx @Harry) - Stand-alone Savestate (to start right away; needs Amiga 1200 setup with 2MB chip & 8MB FastRAM) ^ updated with new difficulties for tracks 3-9 Extras - Lemon thread Results: 1. capehorn - 32,584,880 (Esprit) 2. john4p - 30,850,360 (Esprit) 3. malko - 28'730'000 (Esprit) 4. I have created a Lotus 3 Course File - use it in WHDLoad as described in the Readme (hold fire at start until "Loading" appears, then open the courses definition and press Escape when asked to load a course from the courses file holding several courses).
Note to John4P: I think you have overdone it a bit with Malko's course. I have completed it only at the 5th attempt, whereas the other ones are manageable (except for the last, i had only one try on it until now). |

Since you're probably the most experienced Lotus player then the MALKO-track definitely needs adjustment.
But also lifeschool made a good point in the Lemon mod-section: Quote:
Thus let's lower the difficulty of tracks 3-9: Code:
LIFESCOOL-99 CAPEHORN -99 HQXUBIDOO-50 JOHNFOURP-40 M A L K O-80 FASTHARRY-70 VJARLLOKI-76 ZLINESMCH-80 TSOULASSN-80 Last edited by john4p; 10 June 2019 at 11:21. |

Okay, difficulties of tracks 3-9 are now lowered:
Tracks 3-5 are much easier now. Tracks 6-9 still aren't a breeze but you can feel the difference. Stand-alone Savestate is updated. Please redownload. Btw., everyone is allowed to practice each track individually. Just type it in on the main screen and change the question-mark in COURSE to the round course-symbol: Last edited by john4p; 10 June 2019 at 11:29. |

Now the final track is the only one that's really tough. But it's beatable:
(Played it individually.) |

Thanks for the revised track difficulties John. Back in the day, programmers made their games extra hard because they thought just because they were experts, they thought the games were too easy. As this is a fun summer slam, it would be more fun if there were no time limits, so everyone can play all the tracks, but lets go with the latest changes and see what happens. At least now I get to play JohnfourP.
Capehorn - I hope you like turning Left? Your course seems to be a spiral? |

Problem is if all tracks are too easy there is no incentive to play this more than once (for most participants).
Having the final track of Lotus 2 being as hard as it is motivated to get better and better until you finally could beat the whole thing. |

Whoa great score...
I almost made it to the end: 7,470,670 (edit: oh, that's less points than on my first try) |

Okay, there's a problem - the game is just way too easy with the Lotus Elan:
13,195,250 Which Lotus did you use, Harry? We should restrict it to the Esprit because there's zero challenge with the Elan (and with the M200 I'm sure it's still too easy - edit: It is - finished without problems, 9.6M). Last edited by john4p; 10 June 2019 at 20:39. |

I have used the Elan, that is the easiest difficulty. Will try the Esprit soon.

Is it acceptable for you if we change the rule to only Esprit allowed?

I have another proposal: People must write with which car the score was achieved, and a multiplier affects the score, with the Elan x1, the M200 x2, and the Esprit x4.

Well, that's basically the same as only allowing the Esprit.
Okay, let's make it so. |

I agree it doesn't feel very realistic.

Either I am really bad at racing games, either you are really good as I can't even manage to finish the "LIFESCOOL" track (don't even know if I am far from the last check point)
I think I'm going to keep practicing and no score posting now... . |
