Istall files dont work
Hi guys,
I rewrite here (maybe a better place than the end of the 3d where I've already post that question..http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=37919) about my troubles with WHDload and some games dowloaded by HOL section.. (I say excuse me to webmasters if it could be annoying..) I've installed correctly WinUAe 1.0 with OS WB 3.1 and Picasso96 (v1_43b). Well, just learned the "lha e [file name] ram" command (using for picasso install), I tryed the same process with EliteAdvanced (AmiGer version). It completes the operation but extracts no files...so I tryed with WHDLoad package.....same story.. Then, I unpacked them with winzip in WinXP e put the files obtained in one dir a create during WinUAE installing. So I can view now install files (both for WHD and Elite) but I can run them! I dont know why, it said to me they are not executible files.. so I "invented" in a shell some command withou of course any good results..... any suggestions..? |

Open a shell window and type lha, a list of commands should er be listed.
Edit: Just noticed you are trying to open a Zip file with LHA Try using the Killa packs, they come pre installed and work perfectly Last edited by Arnie; 14 July 2008 at 18:59. |

You need to replace "RAM" with "RAM:" (i.e. put a colon on the end)

also it'd be better to Xtract files with full path.
Eg. Lha x WHDLoad_dev.lha ram: |

AAAA!!! YES!
I was, no, I am really stupid...I have unpacked both WHDL and DIC...then the same with EliteAdvanced by Amiger...now I have a dir...I post the picture...what to do now?? thanks guyz EDIT: in another forum I read:"You normally need original game disks for it to allow you to install the games. You could instead download a WHDLoad gamepack with already has the games setup ready to run." Is it true? Last edited by reyearthnexus; 15 July 2008 at 14:03. |

Yes, download the already installed games individually here:
www.whdownload.com or in larger "packs" of games here: http://kgwhd.whdownload.com |

And while you're at it, update your WinUAE, 1.0 is out of fashion
Oh and shouldn't this be in prb.WinUAE...? |

Just search the above website for elite advanced, download it, put it on your Amiga (or in WinUAE) and unzip it. |

it means"whdload not found" ? well, you have to install whdload itself:
http://aminet.net/package/dev/misc/WHDLoad_usr download, unpack and start the "Install". this will copy the needed files to your system harddve, in folder c, i guess. there after you should start those game installers. hope i didnt mixed things; anyway, just try |

You don't even need the WHDLoad installer, really; just copy the files in the C directory in the WHDLoad archive to your C directory on your boot partition.

If all you want to do is play some games in Workbench, just download this:
http://classicwb.abime.net/ Use your 3.1 disks to activate it and change the language to Italian. It already has everything you need to play games, including the WHDLoad files. Then you can download the WHDLoad games from KillerGorilla's links above and simply double click them to install or use the program "Dopus" and the "ArcExt" button. Another option is gamebase: http://gbamiga.elowar.com/ or other Workbench packs: http://amigasys.extra.hu/ http://amikit.amiga.sk/ Far easier than messing around setting up one HDF for one game. |

Oh yeah, I forgot Paul's excellent Workbench 3.1 guide:
http://guide.abime.net/home3.htm which explains very clearly how to install WHDLoad if you don't want to use the pre-install packs. |
