With the Ecstatica games they used ellipsoids instead of polygons for the 3D models... thats why the graphics look like balls (sounds a bit wrong )

The PS1 had some very playable games, Medievil, Oddworld, NFS, Bloody Roar to name a few. For it's 1994 release this was a great console, remember, this was same year Commodore bit the dust.
For me it was a much better choice to get a PS1 than be dragged kicking and screaming over to a PC for future gaming (I had stupidly sold my A1200 by then). As most of us on here know, mind blowing 3D graphics like the current generation consoles don't equal a good game. |

Thanks to this thread I took my few PS1 games before mentioned and I ripped them for PSP format. I am now playing Portable R-Type Delta, and boy, it's such a fucking killer game! I wish they made a new R-Type shmup for PSP (not a strategy bullshit game D

This thread is making me regret eBaying my original playstation. In fact, I'm very tempted to buy one off eBay with a copy of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil Director's Cut. These games were amazing for the time, and still are.

Yeah I remember buying a CD32 thinking the Playstation would suck, didn't take long before I came to my senses though and sold that bag of shit.
I am such a commodore fanboy though that even after that I still believed Dave Pleasants and his AAA chipset bullshit that would "compete with Playstation" Last edited by Ian; 28 April 2009 at 18:20. |

I think CD32 & PSX games have totally different atmosphere so you can not choose what is better just because PSX have better hardware. Same is with C64 and Amstrad CPC - C64 have better soundchip but I prefer atmosphere of Amstrad games.

There isn't a decent CD32 game available when you discount games that were just CD32 versions of "normal" amiga games with, if your were very lucky, added CD music. |

But I don't need something more if game is good enough without something more added.

Try not be a zealot here, the CD32 library is absolutely lame for the exception of a couple of titles. The PSX was a much better long term choice, heck, if you like short lived machines, the 3DO was a MUCH better choice than the CD32! |

I have to agree. The CD32 is maybe useful for Amiga gaming sessions on your couch, but the game library is a disaster.
Anybody with an Apple Pippin? Probably the greatest console flop ever. |

These lame (3DO?) ports like Microcosm weren't my cup of tea too. Flink, Wing Commander and Pirates Gold are imho the best games for the CD32. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 28 April 2009 at 21:42. |

But most of the CD32 owners were previously owners of an Amiga, mor than probably a 1200, so the CD32 was arse. They hardly sold one to someone coming from, say , a Megadrive... I don't blame purchasers, with that feeble library... None of the games feeled "console-ish"

Too bad the software companies came along with ports when it was launched (even Microcosm was a former CDTV title). The machine was a success but C= died. So the (announced) exclusive titles did. I´m still waiting for Lost Eden and Megarace. |

Nu-huh, these were PC ports!
"Lost Eden is an adventure game produced by Cryo Interactive and published by Virgin Interactive in March 1995 for the PC running DOS, Macintosh, 3DO [1] and CD-i" Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Eden " It was released for MS-DOS on March 28, 1994, for the Sega Mega-CD/Sega CD on July 30, 1994 and for the 3DO on September 5, 1994." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megarace LOL! What was I talking about the 3DO? I was damn right, a much better purchase than a CDTHIRTYPOO |
