I remember though, having once found a site which in detail explained how to put your A600 in a case for a laptop quick and painless. The result was an A600 which looked a lot like a standard laptop PC.

Or you could install AmigaOS XL

Not as good as the real thing, but fairly close.

Worthless, since I cant use a genlock or can use custom chip applications with it.

However I am liking Drake's sugegstion... if I ever get my hands on a working A600 mobo, I might try the strange mod. What do I lose?

You'd need to find the site though Akira I believe the link was posted here once before but I can't find it.

I'd do the mod on my own, but the only thing I need to know is how to connect the LCD display....

Are there internal scandoublers for ECS Amigas? If I get that, I'd be able to connect to the LCD I suppose.

There are internal Scandoublers made for the amigas.. atleast according to http://www.amiga-hardware.com

But if you're going to mod an A600/A1200 for laptop usage, you'll probably have to "hardwire" the internal scandoubler straight to the chips.. (the boards connectors are soldered to the chips legs and the scandoubler-board's video output to the LCD) But you'll probably need an SMD soldering station..

Ofcourse this "bubblegum/duct-tape patent" might not fit straght into the small laptop enclosure..

Better break out that ruler and measure the needed space before going further and finding out the hard way!

From what Blackcornflake told me, the internal A1200 scandoubler piggybacks on the videochips. So no serious soldering stuff must be going on there. However, I'd need a similar solution for an A600 if I want to do this....

Anyway, is not like im planning to do this soon, since I'm broke, but I'd like to make it someday! Thanks for the advice

I think using a scandoubler with an LCD is not a good choice since LCD or TFT wont work with Amiga resolutions even if they are scandoubled. I have tried my old PicassoIV with a LG TFT and it didnt work with scandoubler/flickerfixer. As a note my 15 CRT didnt work with the scandoubler either. I thought all CRT work with all Amiga Scandoublers :-/

What can be done is to download drivers from aminet and run the wb in pc resolution. Or productivity or something?
Thats how the guy in CU Amiga who built an portable A600 did it.

Though his portable A600 was about as fat as four standard PC notebooks

I've seen LCD screens for the PSOne. If that LCDs are connected to the RGB output of the PSOne it would be easy plug it to the A600

Hmm, a modified A600 laptop won't look as compact and nice as a real laptop computer I think.

Let's hope Amiga hardware manufacturers start earning serious money and decide to make backwards compatible nice amiga laptops soon.

Of course it wont be a Titanium Powerbook G4 or a VAIO laptop, but hey, it's Amiga

The PSOne LCD display idea is VERY good. But that bastard is expensive. Anyway, the bitch works at 15Khz for sure, so it wold be a treat! Great idea uukrul

I know the idea is to keep the weight down, but how about an internal scan doubler so you can use a normal LCD display instead ?!?

You dont need to have a scandoubler just to get Amiga screen onto a VGA monitor or LCD/TFT since there are drivers for those resolutions wich are compatible with those screens.

The problem is if you want to use lowres screen or play games.
