Parasite can guarantee 100% OCS/ECS compatibility as it takes the signal from the real custom chips and passes it through the Vampire's digital video output. On the other hand work on the custom chip reimplementation progresses very well such that the extra bit of compatibility Parasite would give you may be minimal. Time will tell. In any case Parasite is a very nice thing and the last time I heard its creator was open to donating it to the community for a stand-alone product for Vampire-less Amigas.

Well, quite, why is why reimplementing the existing chipset like for like in the FPGA seems a waste of gates. SAGA adding RTG plus AGA modes for non-AGA machines I can totally get behind, but I don't see the benefits of doing it for ECS/OCS or the other custom chips. Some kind of Super Paula with AHI might make more sense as it adds functionality rather than duplicating something already present.

I've still bought one, anyway, and will enjoy seeing whatever they come up with.

AGA is a superset of ECS which is a superset of OCS. Thus, if you implement AGA, you have also implemented OCS/ECS. It's not as if you could just do two bitplanes in the FPGA and recycle the six that the OCS/ECS can do to get 8bit AGA modes...

the main purpose for SAGA is to have AGA support on the future standalone device. Vampire only was a kind of shortcut to get something ready because a standalone device like Natami is much more complicated. So people had something to play with and development team could concentrate on adding new features.

Testing of legacy MOD playing with PAMELA AUDIO Chip, which support 24bit mixing precision plus 4-times oversampling. Optional STEREO separation is enabled, it's better for headphones.

moving some object/camera in layout, it does crash.

rendering does work - if you manage to load the scene/objects.
once the scene does load dont move or click around,
just hit F9 to render current frame.

but i like it, nice work

#1) i forgot to enable "more campatible" for the cpu.
still polygon and rendering errors, but less crashs when loading scene/objects.

#2) it still has problems, not yet production ready.
it does corrupt the panel service of layout, so you cannot open any requester/panel.
happens with some scenes, not all, i guess some objects may cause this.

#3) bowling scene, render time 1st frame - winuae latest beta - 32bit - JIT enabled:
femu030 - 38s
030/882 -24s

Our AMMX sorcerer Bax did it again !

To show how much AMMX can benefit AmigaOS3 applications and OS, he implemented AMMX decoding instructions into the good old JPEG datatypes.

Results are impressive.

To benchmark it, we used benchmarking protocol used on WarpDT website and current GOLD2.7 WIP :
http://www.warpdt.co.uk/jpeg.html ("visage jordan199b.jpg nojpeg time test". )

and we went from 1.759s

to a whooping 0.723s !

You read it right, we are faster at 70MHz than a A1200 603e/240MHz used on original benchmarks.

This new addition to a growing AMMX software collection demonstrates how much AMMX can benefit every part of our beloved OS. Any application using datatypes will instantly benefit from this, like our preferred OS3 browsers.

I never could get dropbox or google drive to work. Even with the code, it says EXPIRED.

If/when it becomes an issue I care to fix, I'll hit the forums. Just noticing your DropBox icon on the desktop is all.

I assumed it would be a potential ApolloOS release, but I havent been much at the internets lately, so I missed the future release revision.

Is that a working FPU I spy?

Also, some nostalgia! Nice to see the Vampire can handle Freespace. The FPS reminds me of playing Wing Commander on the A500 - In a good way.

I only know about RiVA and this JPEG datatype, which is not even released to the public. Is there anything more?

Can we download this jordan199b.jpg from somewhere?
