This one with added 16 colors at index 0 to index 15 - i.e. anything that use lowest 16 colors should not modify remain 240.

As I mentioned earlier, you need to change the palette in your WB as well to use the one from the background image or it will always look bad.

Retrofan - it looks like hi-color mode RGB565 - are you using RGB888 or different?

Pandy71 - why do all of your conversions have the wrong aspect ratio?

To get a good overall look you will also need to take into account colours used by: The titlebar Window pattern Birdie pattern LimpidClock The AmiKIT startup logo... |

So this is my point - for 8 bit buffer - correct, 256 color snapshot will give correct palette that can be used to convert picture, if buffer is 16 bit or more then we can have multiple different color LUT and there is big problem - as all PNG's provided by Retrofan use more than 100 thousand colors...

I just tried applying one of them to my A1200 background in Scalos, but I couldn't figure out how to change the WB palette, only the first 16 colors. I can save the palette from PP in .col format, but I somehow need to convert that into WB format, or just load it straight from the IFF file. How to do that?
I can set the background and choose 'no remap' as it should be. Obviously it looked very wrong without remapping since it was on a different palette, but then I'll know for sure when when the correct palette has been set. I've attached the 240 color version in IFF format with Rebel's 16 colors as the first 16 in the palette. I prefer to use IFF on the Amiga since it is much faster to work with. Don't know if it makes a difference when using it as a background. |

demolition I think yours can be the best or very near, but I have to watch it better:
Edit: IMHO yours can be the best. What program did you use and how? Last edited by Retrofan; 14 July 2013 at 05:01. |

It's not mine, it's the 240 color one from pandy71 (Riemersma) where I just inserted the 16 color Rebel palette as the first 16 colors, so the image only uses the last 240 color indexes.
You still have color remapping enabled, so it doesn't look very good. It should look 100% identical to how it looks here on EAB or something is wrong. Your icons should be remapped against the palette of the background image, not the other way (IMHO). |
