Nice to watch for 10mins before getting totally p*ssed off with it.
Yep, the original may have been significant in the Amiga's history but when thinking of Shadow of the Beast games, the words "all style, no substance" spring to mind.

While I do consider Beast 1 & 2 being technically impressive the gameplay they offer is considerably everything I hate in games. They give me the impression of being nothing more than tech-demos with some kind of simple gameplay thrown in just to be able to sell it as a product. When it comes to Beast 2 they even managed to make the non-skipable intro together with the endless loading times and the game over screen giving the feel of one spending more time waiting than playing the game (while WHDLoad fixes most of these issues the original is what feels like it matters since it was the one version that was available in the stores).

...so, naturally, Beast 3 gets my vote. I don't think it is a fantastic game, but the graphics, controls, puzzles and gameplay in general are all of good quality. A nice platformer, nothing more, nothing less.

3rd choice - Beast III (although the best gameplay I didn't like the character at all)

Ok, gameplay isn't the greatest in the first two unlike but I still love 'em
Beast 2 for the same reasons

Oh well I wanted to order Beast 2 back in the day but I ended up with SOB1 - played it and completed. Music and atmosphere is good. Have to say looking back - it's a tech demo - I mean did you read the tech part of the manual - mentioning the amount of Mbs in graphics etc etc.

I only can say I liked the original SOB - but 2 and 3 looks interesting. Sounds like 3 is the favorite here by a slim margin. SOB2 gets hit badly - up to now I guessed it was ok. But I'll try it.

Beast 2 was the best for me, the atmosphere and the music are incredible. It had a lot more depth than beast 1, what with the puzzle solving and the ability to interact with characters.

1. Beast 2
2. Beast 3
3. Beast 1

Well you need to overclock the ST to 20 Mhz to get a scrolling as smooth as the one we have on amiga. Plain and simple.

And St-ers can't say the proggie from eldritch the cat is bollocks since it's Mark Mc Cubbin, a very talented ST coder. LOL ?

i voted shadow of the bitch 2
i don't particulary like the 3rd in the sense that i found it to have lost something the first 2 had in appeal. of course it was the best one as for gameplay.
i wasn't able to go on much in the first two games, but i know i have started them many times. so from the first two bitches i pick the second one, that had better eye candy and cool audio to me.

Yeah, who cares if bitches are hard to get along with as long as they have great eye candy and cool audio!

There is no CD32 version. It was made from the floppy discs (if it exists), as you already presumed.

Edit: I found a Beast Trilogy CD in emule, only 5 MB. This is probably a home made version of the 3 disk games.
