All Amiga models support bootable media, and KS/WB 1.2-3.1 are quite compatible if you learn the small differences (and are not specifically developing a utility for Workbench integration).

Some Amiga models are completely unable to support persistent storage, so that bootable media is the only option - hundreds of MB of it!

The finishing and releasing of self-contained/standalone, tested software is encouraged in this coder forum.

Further -- if you have a source project on-line currently, just sharing a link to it will limit your audience severely.

To widen your audience, consider building a bootable media release or image for the known CPUs, not only if you are using the hardware directly, such as for drivers, benchmark software, or commonly used executable files for use on a floppy disk or CD, installation files, or firmware update images for custom hardware expansions.

Even downloading ready executables with accompanying installation script and list of requirements remains rare for decades. Bootable media carries an advantage here, perhaps even to the point of the readme that is otherwise never read.

It's also true that the Amiga remains one of the few platforms where a user decides whether an executable file should be run or not - whether new software should be tried or not.

When replying to a programming question, ensure that you are not discouraging devs from developing, or users from trying, finished standalone software on bootable media.
