Looking for original uncracked Scala MM400 disk ADFs.

Hi Folks,

I have recently dug out my big-box Scala MM300 and Scala MM400 upgrade disks along with the green dongle that I bought in the 1990's. I have managed to create a set of ADFs and installed them on my A1200. However, one of the demo scripts has a bug in it where it doesn't find some animation files and this made me wonder if there is an updated version available which has been bug-fixed.

I have taken a good look through the available MM400 files on the EAB file server and they all seem to have been cracked/de-dongled (which I don't actually want).

There are a set of MM400 files in a folder with a '.ori' suffix in the folder name...
/Non TOSEC Applications/Archive/ScalaMM400.ori/ScalaMM400_1,2,3,4, etc. but I'm not sure how to use them. Does '.ori' perhaps stand for 'original' disk?

Anyway, they don't appear to be ADF or DMS files but they are sized 880KB (901,120 bytes) on disk which looks like an Amiga disk to me. When I looked at them in a text editor they have references to 'DOS' 'Nudos.library' and 'expansion.library' near the start of the file which makes me think I'm missing something obvious.

I'd be grateful if anyone here can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

David

AdF is an image of a standard AmigaDOS disk, and if you don't want to mount those images they can be written back to.floppy

Those text strings are from the bootblock of the disk image.

You can however mount those images in a virtual floppy setup, pretty sure DOPUS does this so you can access those adf files as if they were written to floppy, but much faster access.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried renaming the files from the .ori folder as .adf and .dms and mounting them with both Amiga Forever on a PC and GoADF! on my A1200 without any success.

I agree, the text strings do indeed look like they are from the bootblock of a disk image, I just haven't been able to make them work. I'd appreciate any further ideas you have on how I might achieve this (or on where I can find the uncracked Scala MM400 adfs).

Some further information... the disk 1 file in the .ori folder contains some text indicating the dongle protection has been removed so I am still looking for an un-cracked set of Scala MM400 installer disk files.

Ok, partial resolution. I found the disks, but they don't say which version they are. I think it is MM400 as the disk lables are that browny red colour. I will need to go to my big box of Amiga things and look further. If my memory is correct I have MM200, 300 & 400. I should be in there on the weekend as I have some repairs to do on my A500.

Hi fxgogo, I was just wondering if you've had a chance to look at the Scala MM400 disks yet?

Hi David, apologies. I have not, but hope to this weekend. I should be putting my A500 together, which will allow me to inspect the disks.

No worries, I hadn't understood that you need to put your A500 back together in order to look at the disks. Thank you!

Right David, so it seems, I have MM300, MM210 and MM105. No sight of MM400. I deep dived into my trunk of Amiga stuff, but no joy. I have tons of random user and data discs that I still have to go through,so there might be backup discs there. But I am a ways off from dealing with them. Still have tons of original discs to deal with. I will keep an eye out though, as I am often searching the internet for copy’s of discs that I have which have gone bad. Pretty much like you are really.

Sorry it was not better news.

Thanks anyway, I appreciate you taking a look for me. Please let me know if you find the original MM400 disks in the future (or copies of). In the meantime, the search goes on! Plus I've also got a load of other original disks which need fixing up to keep me occupied.

All the Best.

Hi Folks,

I'm just bumping this thread to say that I'm still looking for the original uncracked Scala MM400 disk ADFs (or possibly the original floppies) if anyone has them available.

Thanks,

David

Not to hijack the thread or anything... But did the Scala MM300 thats said to have been bundled with the Amiga Technology 1200 HD Magic Pack come on floppies in the box? Or was it always pre installed on the HD and unless you backed it up it was gone forever if you changed drives or formatted it.

Did it use a dongle or just a serial key like thew rest of the included software? Google isnt really helping me find these answers

@Mad-Matt

Sorry, I don't know anything about the version of Scala bundled with the HD Magic Pack. Best to start a new thread and bump it occasionally. Good luck.

I went through everything Scala related I could find on the EAB file server before I posted my original request and all the MM400 files seem to have been cracked/de-dongled. Thanks for the suggestion though. Much appreciated.

Sure thing. Both my Amigas are in for repair, but I will post here once they are up.
