Blizzard 1260 query (MMULib and Blizzkick)

Hi All,

Just recently acquired a Blizzard 1260 for my A1200. All installed and working fine using the latest (46.15) 68060 library. I've also installed HSMathlib and the system is rock solid.

My question is, is there any benefit (speed or otherwise) to me installing the 68060 libs from MMULib and also some of the other tools from the package? I am already using Blizzkick without issue. I have tried the install in WinUAE using an image of my CFCard and all I had to do was move the "MuMove4K" command below my Blizzkick line in SS for the machine to boot and run.

I guess I just wondered if I would gain anything from installing MMULib and using the 68060 lib and other tools over the P5 libs and Blizzkick?

Regards,

Ross.

There are many tools included in the mmulib package what might be interesting for you or not. I would recommend to read the documentation to decide.

MMULibs are no faster, I actually think it’s 060 library is a fraction slower. If you are using the machine mainly for gaming (whdload, Quake, doom etc) then there is little benefit from using mmulibs over p5 ones. But as daxb says, there are interesting and useful tools in the package. If you have reason to make use of the mmu then there is merit in using mmulibs/mmutools (inhibiting memory from caching etc).

Thanks for the info guys, I'll take a more detailed look at the docs (I had a quick skim through). Yes, mainly WHDLoad games and demos etc.

Regards,

Ross.
