Server is too busy at the moment

I just got this when trying to access the site, from about 17:20 to 17:40. I've never had it before on this site. Anyone else experiencing this?

I know they had similar issues at amibay, but they kind of sorted it out. See here: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...-at-the-moment

Yeah I'm getting a lot of these recently; it is what it says I guess... too many members & guests logging in at the same time.

Thread moved to this section, project.EAB, which boss man RCK monitors

Thanks for moving this to the right place.

It turned out to not be related to the number of concurrent users on amibay; it had to do with some chinese search bots or something. They ended up blocking the whole of china, I believe. I kid you not!

I believe you

If you click on Currently Active Users at the top of EAB you will see pages of Spiders crawling various threads etc...

I get a lot of these lately too. I wonder if it can be averted, if the site can be protected somehow.

It's related to our database who can't give everyone a connexion, it's happening when spiders crawling and jumping into EAB and HOL
I can't do more with currect hardware (not enough ram), but I have already a new server at datacenter for abime.net more powerfull.
I think I will move our website one to one in august 2017, I will keep you informed when it will be done

Sounds like you could do with people:

a) being an "EAB supporter" plus making sure that they click on at least 3 different ads per day.
b) donate.

I usually try to do "a)" as much as I remember to, "b)" has now been done

Let's get some new hardware for the "abime.net" network

Google are very sensitive to all kinds of cheating or trickery with AdSense, and any odd patterns or spam-clicking are usually detected.

If users start clicking just to click, then it could hit back and in the worst case get the EAB AdSense account deactivated.

As long as you're not going crazy then all is ok.

Let's say you check EAB 3 times a day at various intervals. Clicking once per session is cool.

thats crazy: current active search bots - if i'm not wrong, it list 95 search bots online

#1) some with multiple instances, isnt there a way to restrict each to only one connection?
now 107 spider/bots/crawlers.

#2) maybe something like mod_qos for apache:
Code:
# set the conditional variable to Spider
BrowserMatch (slurp|googlebot|bingbot) Spider
# limits the number of concurrent spider requests to 5 and bandwidth to 50kbytes/s
QS_EventRequestLimit Spider 5
QS_EventKBytesPerSecLimit Spider 50
#3) 134 bots now.

This has happened 4 times today alone, even if you are logged in or out!

It also lasted for more than 20 minutes.

Consider yourself lucky it was only 20 minutes, a couple of week back I couldn't even load the site for 10 hours!
I agree with the rest, this is ridiculous and something needs doing. If search and ad network spiders are to blame, isn't their some sort of legal action that can be taken? It does amount to a DDOS attack which is illegal after all!

Can you put the metadata in to prevent crawlers?

<meta name="ROBOTS" CONTENT="noindex, nofollow">
<meta name="AdsBot-Google" content="noindex" />
<meta name="googlebot" content="noindex" />

As these boots don't have access to torrents sites, they are looking for DamienD's Collection & Update for sure !

More seriously it's really disturbing and happens frequently during European daytime. Even yesterday night (between 23:00 & 00:15) I was not able to browse EAB at all.... even if I was connected . Positive thing is that I went to bed earlier this night .

The new server is 90% ready but RCK still needs to migrate the websites.

There is a deadline in a month's time because the old server is scheduled to be retired.
