I suppose it craps on that old stuff on the Iso, 52 files in the Bin drawer and total 3712 unpacked; F-Secure finds nothing. If you can nominate something suspect it could be still sent to https://www.virustotal.com/ to be scanned by 60+ scanning engines.

I often get warnings from anti-virus programs on Windows when copying Amiga files. I have no idea why a Windows program would flag an Amiga program that can't run under Windows. I just hit ignore and it works fine.
It seems like badly written rules are doing it. The first few times I submitted them to the support for the program and they updated so they weren't recognized as a virus anymore. After the first few I stopped bothering and just ignore them. The specific programs I use are Eset and Malwarebytes. Make sure that you turn off the setting to automatically quarantine suspected files. Malwarebytes has this set by default and moves them even when you ignore. I consider that a bug but they won't change the quarantine behavior. |

It's all just bytes, innit? A Windows AV program won't be aware of what the executable format for an Amiga file is, nor what 68k code looks like - it just looks for patterns of x86 code that are known to be associated with the things that PC viruses do. And because all files are simply lists of numbers, those certain sequences that are flagged on a PC may be entirely innocuous on an Amiga - but there's no real reason for the AV to know that, and nor should there be.

That's quite true. It looks for patterns recognized as a viral infections and flag em as such.
Seeing that the Amiga files are nowhere near Windows executables I would say that it's safe to ignores the flags. |

FTP server have an issue so its down for a little.
Edit: After a restart, the boot disk has no partition. Very fun. I can either try for days to fix the disk or restore it from a backup. Sadly, the full disk image backup is one year old. It boots from that one but I now have to restore all the FTP users / web contents and database stuff from yesterdays backup. The data itself on the FTP is on another disk which is fine so no worries there (also numerous backups on everything). Use the google drive if you need something right now! Edit2: Looking good so far. Good Disaster Recovery exercise if nothing else... Still working on it so not up yet. Edit3: Done with the restore. Taking a fresh disk dump in case something like it happens again. Should be up within the hour. Edit4: And we're back! Last edited by Turran; 27 February 2019 at 20:20. |

Default setting for the FTP server I am running is "max users:300" and we've hit that. So those of you who got a "sorry, no more users allowed on site" error when trying to register, try again. I've raised the limit.

But how did it loose the partition?
If just the disk map was messed, it could be recovered in minutes, not days. |

Works fine here wobbly
Just checked the EAB File Server Admin console and your account looks fine i.e. not disabled or deleted. |

Some fun stats. Note that "last year" only goes from May 2018 - Dec 2018 so the numbers are missing 5 months.

Small questions about the GoogleDrive mirror.
How does synchronization work? How often is it updated? |

The FTP server just uses google drive (https://rclone.org/drive/) to do a rsync. This is done at midnight each day (CET). |

Turran, sorry for asking, but did you slow down the server speed? I ask because I have a 5 Mbps connection, but when I download I can only reach the average of 80 Kbps.
By coincidence that was since I changed my laptop, and I'm not sure what's happening. HTTP transfers are normal but transfers to your FTP are slow. (the login itself is fast) Last edited by Leandro Jardim; 27 March 2019 at 11:57. |
