The MAME that interests me already fits in a pocket I presume. All those PDAs with MAME run perfectly the arcade games I like. The problem with Sony is well known: their quality control is shit but they automatically supress any 2D project from their lists. So Sensible wouldn't be able to do shit. Now Nintendo surely is expensive. It has always been hard to become an official Nintendo dev'r. While all these tools can be get for free. We have the whole Nokia dev kit and we had it for free from Nokia themselves. |

Akira: don't mistake Sony America for Sony rest-of-the-world. It seems in america, sony have trouble accepting 2D titles, but they come through easily in europe and japan.

You are right, shouldn't have included Sony of Japan in that. Bu I guess Sony of almost-anywhere-except-japan doesn't take any 2D "garbage"

All I've heard is Sony America won't take much 2D "garbage". Here in Europe, I think we get most of the 2D titles we need.
Anyway, the PSP is a handheld, and although it's powerful enough for 3D, small screens and small handheld consoles in general is better suited for 2D than 3D. It's easier on the eyes. In the case of Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder, it's probably overkill to use as powerful a system as the PSP, but it's still a handheld and I'm guessing a lot of games will still be 2D, so not even Sony America can look past them. |

I wouldn't bet on that, wasn't From Within who mentioned,(& the subsequent E3 Press blitz since), that the PSP basically is a handheld PS2 in respect to tech specs-& with GT 4 & co. & undoubtedly several other ports undoubtedly in the pipeline I wouldn't think 2D games will be that numerous.
I wouldn't be as sure if quality control is a factor in the lack of Gamecube games though-The capcom conversions of the likes of Res Evil 2 or Code Veronica were hardly the rewrite quality they did to Resident Evil 1 on G.C. |
