Catweasel MK3 PCI/Flipper !!
Catweasel MK3 PCI/Flipper:four-in-one controller for emulation support.
Hehe this looks like a great new card for pc or amiga. It is a floppy controller, amiga keyboard interface, joystick interface and possibility to connect a sid chip (for real sound!). Hehe even cooler is it that the board can fith both a pci port and a zorro slot (flip card ) 1200 clock connector is also availible ... http://www.jschoenfeld.de/products/cwmk3_e.htm looks really good ... want one |

Damn! I can't find a single reason to not buy one! How much does that thing come to in US $ (I'm useless translating Euros...) If it's reasonable, I'll order mine right now.

Well, it's a tad bit pricey, but not really when you consider all it does.

A good question now. I'm planning to save the 109 bucks the SID+Clockport one costs but... is there *ANY* program that supports this nice device already? I am hoping for Eagletracker support, for example...
On the PC nothing supports it yet, or does it come with builtin drivers for teh joysticks and stuff? Just curious, Im not in the position to blow 100 bucks for an unsuported piece of hardware, no matter how brilliant it is. |

My CW MK3 WinUAE support plans:
- external Amiga keyboard: very simple to implement - joystick ports 1: joysticks + 1 button/joystick: very simple 2: joysticks + 2 or 3 buttons/joystick: SID required, more complex 3: CD32 pad: unfortunately not possible (CW hardware limitation, buttons 2 and 3 can't be outputs) 4: Amiga mouse: possible only in theory. (would need huge amounts of CPU power for polling the mouse because CW lacks hardware mouse counters) - floppy drive 1: ZorroII emulation and using Amiga side driver: quite simple 2: "Direct" DF0/DF1/DF2/DF3 support. complex. I have not ecided yet. I might release "special" CW-WinUAE version after basic joystick and keyboard support is complete. (December?) fiath: I guess your "reason" also excludes joystick and keyboard ports? |

That sounds fab Toni!
However let me refine my question Any AMIGA developments that will support this beauty? I want to connect this to my A1200, not my PC. I'll still try the catweasel on the PC when/if I buy it But the priority is the 1200 |

Yes, it will be a dedicated (floppy only) device - but it will be "Open Hardware" (as opposed to Open Source ). Anyone know any license agreements that exist for open hardware designs? I think Sun did one for its Sparc CPU's, but that is the only one I know of... There is no reason people cannot extend the design of it I suppose, but it wouldn't be "standard" and may be just as easy to start from scratch - we certainly wouldn't spend any time on something like that I wouldn't have thought. Especially as the device we have in mind can be used on an Amiga as well as PC/Mac/whatever - and so would be redundant anyway on one platform. So if people want things like Amiga mouse/joystick/keyboard - then it is much better to go with the CW. Especially as it is not currently vapourware... |
