Imho 821 and 852 are the best of Paradroid 90
Also love the 2nd level crawling boss from Ruff n Tumble
And all walkers from Turrican 2
And ED-209 from Hired guns.

Lame? I am not sure, but probably Warra from Body Blows galactic,
all characters from Metal and the whole Rise of the robots.

Well, if the ice parts are all mechanical, doesn't that still qualify as some sort of robot? Only a robot made out of ice instead of metal?

Walker is NOT a robot, but vehicle with pilot inside!

In this point of view you could consider car or bus as robots.

@ Predseda - Good point! I think a 'robot' or 'mechanoid' is a self automating machine, an 'android' is a robot that looks like a human, a 'cyborg' is part human part machine, while a 'bus' or a 'car' is plainly a tool which can only be operated by humans and cannot function on it's own (such a tool may also include the Walker - but not K.I.T.T).

Anyway,

Best Robots:
Joey from BASS - a solid winner
The bosses on Ruff n Tumble
The level 2-2 cyclops boss in Turrican 2

Worst Robots:
The main character in G.Nius
The robots in Mission Impossible 2 (kill him my robots!)
The robots in Sexy Droids
Anything featured in the game Nightshift

The question is of course whether or not these robots are governed by the Three Laws of Amiga Robotics.

Lamest nomination goes to ED-209 from Robocop or the one in Under Pressure.
AND best nomination for 001 from Paradroid

Could you be more specific about the criteria? Are we talking about what robots have the best graphics, or what?

Maybe not the graphics but the overall feel of lameness and goodness is that counts. In Robocop ed-209 just walks straight towards the player and shoots, no strategy just lame head-on approach. But 001 in Paradroid tries to capture the enemy base, taking control of different enemy robots and trying to cleverly survive. Hence lame & best nomination. This is my 2,5 cents :-)

I don't agree - fully at least. The swamp is too linear, but after that the game gets a good puzzle element to it which provided me with plenty of entertainment. On the other hand I don't really care much for games that make it impossible to avoid damage and in stead force you to go from health regeneration to health regeneration, so I'll stick with "its decent enough".

Best robot should be the one in the game in which you remote controlled a robot (top down view) and kept upgrading it. It was a 1disk game. What was its name?
