Adidas Championship / Tie-Break
Quiet please!
I will again post this publicly, as it might be a good thing to have the SPS team read this. Current HOL notes read that Adidas Championship was due to be released in 1989 by Ocean. BUT ... we do have an original disk of this one now and it is available! (SPS #2637) So ... maybe this note is wrong and it was released, but it's simply ultra-rare! @SPS guys: did the guy who dumped this happen to be from Starbyte directly and donated you an internal pre-release on original disk? I am about to have more and more doubts that it was really a pre-release. BTW, the title screen rocks! Last edited by andreas; 31 December 2006 at 20:08. |

It is unknown whether it was released, but the dump is coming from a duplicated disk.

The donator of the disk probably knows it. You could go asking him.
He probably even still owns the box which belongs to the release!! |

Andreas, i am the guy who dumped Tie Break for SPS.
Tie Break SPSed is from Thierry Levastre Original ! I have told him about SPS process, and he has loaned to me Rolling thunder retail and Adidas championship Tie-break ^^. |

(Major update)
OK, I've had a chat with Denis and he assumes that 'Tie Break' is actually a preview, and that 'Adidas Championship Tie-Break' (including the 'adidas' trademark company logo) is the retail release!
THIS ASSUMPTION IS WRONG. I'm 99.9% sure now that all TOSEC versions are GERMAN releases! The international release is the first to show up in 8 years so it's not only by pure luck set to "extremely rare"! PROOF #1: The Legacy (why didn't I go there first? ) has pictures of a full retail release of the german version! http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/5667 PROOF #2: Exotica's box scan also shows an identical scan of the aforementioned german release: http://exotica.org.uk/gallery/games/...t/TieBreak.jpg The German (original) release does not mention "adidas" at all, so it is safe to assume the international release of the game was officially sponsored by "adidas" later, while the release titled "Tie-Break" was not (yet). In case of doubt, check the disk scan at The Legacy! True Starbyte release, NOT Ocean! [edit] After an team-internal discussion about the matter, we've agreed on a separate entry you will find here: http://hol.abime.net/5503 The releases are simply TOO different. The alleged "preview" release has a title screen with mere 32 colors, while the "adidas" version uses a splendid 2,200 color caleidoscope, i. e. it is true HAM! Case seems solved - BOTH versions were released. The German version is rare too, but "common as mud" compared to the international release! Last edited by andreas; 31 December 2006 at 19:45. |
