I think it would be easier to find collaborators if they don't have to fill in any forms or make promises without knowing what they're getting into.

Fair point is the code for Mario MSX freely available? Two people seem to have collaborated

How safe is this after the smurf thing? I actually feel someone would be so petty and vindictive that it wouldnt be safe?

The Smurf affair does not change anything in the slightest. It was illegal before and it still is after and likely always will be (only the copyright length is likely to change). Theoretically, the fines for copyright violation are usually hefty but Nintendo and others know better than to sue isolated non commercial/criminal endeavors and will only send cease and desist letters/emails asking you to withdraw your product. If you comply, that will end there. If you do not then you are in for a lot of trouble. Now, is it likely that they will 1- notice, and 2- bother? They do not seem to be overly aggressive against violations of their rights on 8 bit or 16 bit platforms but maybe there is a special place in their hearts for the Amiga? |

They are one of the most aggressive enforcers of their IP and branding violations. They do bullshit like this: http://wiiudaily.com/2016/04/nintend...rio-kart-race/ Moreso, they still cash-in heavily on the Super Mario franchise. Personally, if I did this, I'd try to be as anonymous about it as possible, let it out in the wild and hope everyone catches it before Nintendo comes bearing the IP-hammers. |

That moment when you see SMB almost perfectly replicated on a shitty TI-99/4A, not even from original source but by eye! and you weep for the Amiga

Cry and moan as you marvel at a very limited virtual system getting a pretty decent version of SMB in 2018, but still no Amiga version in sight:
https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=28942 Yes this isn't 1:1 by far, but except for the weird physics (justified in the game's description), I believe it's a good example that given the right compromises are taken, you can do this game anywhere. |

Sadly abandoned, and not even close to a playable level like this one I just posted which already has a ton of levels.
Again, weeping ensues. |

Some Japanese men even posted it to the Super Cassette Vision, which is quite limited.

The only advantage it could have over the Amiga could be cycles, yes. Even though there are many limits, you can basically do no harm and slow it down, like, ever. But other things limit how much stuff you can have happening at the same time. Graphic memory is super tiny, so squeezing all this graphic data is quite interesting. it does feel like we keep finding excuses for something like this being "impossible" though, we're quick to defend. My bump was to maybe keep this topic alive and make guys like the one who made that Super Mario quick demo to keep working on it. |

"shitty TI-99/4A" - Ouch. Maybe shitty compared to an Amiga but ouch. I actually use my 4a more than my Amiga these days. I think you'd be surprised at all the new hardware and software created for this little machine and more coming out for it.
I have an affinity for it since it was my first.... But - to be fair, that SMB TI demo is only 3 levels I believe. By the end of this year, the TI will have Dragon's Lair full game as an officially licensed cartridge. But I digress, SMB on the Amiga seems very doable, but it's like everything else. Not easy, very time consuming and a lot of work. So finding the folks willing to do it through completion... well, you know. |

This article answers a lot of questions asked within this thread regarding sleazy Nintendo attorneys. If they come after a C64 port in 2019 they will do the same with an Amiga port.
