Amiga Explorer can't read from TCP/IP
The situation is tricky. Windows XP with the Amiga Explorer is running in a VirtualBox under Ubuntu Linux. Everyone can ping everybody: Amiga, XP Guest and Linux Host. Surfing Web from within the XP Guest works fine. AExplorer v 6.0 is running on the Amiga. Amiga Explorer in the XP Guest is configured with the correct Amiga IP address and the same packet size. But when starting Amiga Explorer in XP then Amiga Explorer says: "cannot READ from TCP/IP". And when I start it again it says: "Error connecting with the Amiga Server: TCP/IP socket not found". What now?

If you are running Genesis on the Amiga, you have to allow access to port 356 in GenesisPrefs / Database / Access. Be sure that the new specific rule appears above the generic rule which denies access to all ports. Or just delete the denying rule.

I am running some netbootdisk which I installed to my HD by hand. Seems to be a mini-amitcp.

Typing "telnet localhost 356" on the Amiga side results in a message from AExplorer reading:
"Error initializing Socket Connection" What's this? ps: same when i try to do this from other computer (message pops up on the Amiga) Last edited by AGS; 14 May 2014 at 12:57. |

If yes, add the following line: 356 *.*.*.* allow log (I think you can replace *.*.*.* with the ip of the computer that's trying to access Amiga) If there is this line: $ *.*.*.* deny log then add the line starting with 356 before the line starting with $ |

In the meanwhile I have found the problem:
My version of AmiTCP is below 4 and AmigaExplorer needs a least version 4 of AmiTCP. |

I would like to know how I can make the the rule appear above the other rules. There is no up/down gadget and it does not move with the mouse or keyboard.

Edit amitcp:db/inet.access with a text editor.
