Perhaps not in this case. Paula is as much an instrument as a CD player or cassette tape player: They don't produce sound on their own, but rather replay sound that was somehow recorded.
Is the Mellotron not an instrument? It uses pre-recorded loops of tape, which is basically analog "samples".

I guess it depends on what you're doing with Paula.

Right now?
The fact that I was just able to buy a newly released upgraded 3.1.4 OS for my Amiga 1200.
:-)
(And the fact that people will be able to buy sets with floppies and a physical ROM eventually)

A500+ with a Vampire 2 and Core Gold 3 (AGA) with WB3.1.4. Simply stunning. This particular fan's best Amiga experience ever. Love it!

You made me think about that ;-) it is strange that 25 years later I still own a amiga and it's sitting next to my C64 ready to go. I don't see that happening with VCR's but you never know...

(aget doesn't do http-proxy, which I kinda rely on, as I am migrating away from IPv4.)
1. How does using an http-proxy help with ipv4-migration?
2. How do you use other protocols which there are no proxy solution for?
3. Is there a standard for specifying http proxy on the Amiga like the http_proxy env variable in Unix?

My LAN is entirely IPv6, IPv4 is only around for a few legacy devices.

The Amiga systems each connect directly to a *ix system (typically raspberry pi with Linux, but sometimes also a mac or whatever) over either ethernet or null-modem/PPP, using IPv4 and RFC1918 addresses. Those *ix systems run a http-prox that allows the IPv4 only Amiga to reach websites that the proxy access over IPv6, meaning that the Amiga can reach also IPv6-only sites (such as my own local aminet mirror).

I don't, or I hack together "IPv4 over IPv6" tunnels between the mentioned *ix systems using ssh/socat/whatever when such needs arise.

Not really a standard no, you must specify for each web browser in the settings. However, tools ported from unix, like wget, does of course use the http_proxy env.

EDIT: Since my Minimig is with me at work currently, why not an illustration...
Here an old G4 Mac mini with Gentoo/Linux is the proxy. The link between the Minimig and the Mac mini is PPP null-modem over bluetooth, RS232-bluetooth adapter plugged into the Minimig.
The Minimig is downloading from my IPv6 only aminet mirror, aminet.kolla.no, via the proxy (in this case, tinyproxy) running on the ppp0-device of the Mac mini, using wget and env:http_proxy set to http://10.99.0.1:8888.
The "MyIP" requester is just output from an "what is my IP address" service (this is at work, so the Mac mini also has public IPv4 address, but that is not really relevant here)

Btw, here the same Minimig doing what is its "daily business" these days, in AmTelnet, via an ncurses interface running on the mentioned Mac mini (which allows telnet from the Minimig only). Monitoring and controlling the links in the Norwegian NREN ("national research and educational network"). Having a really slow terminal has been great help debugging and improving the ncurses interface

Positive:
The existence of Gotek floppy emulators. For so many other platforms multicart-type solutions are quite expensive. The Gotek gives Amiga users a less expensive option to replace their failing drives with.

Negative:
The toxicity of the multitude of Amiga communities. Instead of everyone getting together and talking about games, you've got endless arguments about what is or is not a real Amiga, infighting among the different hardware developers, and even different online communities warring against each other online just because they're concentrated around the same subject.

a few things off the top of my head ... the ongoing development of enhancements to the hardware ; new applications being developed ; that classic machines are still used

how advanced some of the original design truly was

What blows my mind?

While my two desktop PC's are extremely powerful and could run over almost anything, I still get a total kick from using my Amiga's and they are almost 30 years old. I don't know what it is but they keep drawing me in over and over again.
