another Apollo 1260 black screen on boot
helloz,
I recently acquired an apollo 1260 card for watching demos & stuff. I even got myself a new motherboard (1d4) because of the 2B i had in place that wasn't stable at all. i removed 123C and 125C components from the 1D4 as described in Stedman's website. I can't get the thing to boot. No activity with HDD, FDD or nothing. Not even a reaction to two button mouse sorcery to bypass startup sequence. Jumpers on board are set to CLK 060 and RAM & 060 ON. The card looks like it is has been a 1240 in its previous life, the CPU is on socket and so on. It worked with the 2B but was so unstable it wasn't operable. If i change the CPU jumper i get a yellow screen, as expected. I have another accelerator, blizzard 1230mkIV and the 1d4 mobo works fine with it. PSU is from A500 and should cover the need for juice. any suggestions? |

Try another PSU, they are hungry cards and your A500 PSU is very old! Converted ATX is recommend.
Remove and clean the mach chips and sockets and re-fit, better still solder them direct to the PCB! (You will need a chip puller/extractor, do not attempt with a screwdriver!) Of course once you get the system to boot you will need to install the Apollo 060 libs & CPU command otherwise it wont work/be unstable. |

i ordered a 300W ATX psu from Amigakit, hopefully it is enough. The thing worked with my 3.5A PSU and 5.0A PSU though, but now there's no picture. you could be right though and it could explain the previous stability issues. I have indivision aga mk2cr and a CF HDD in addition to the 1260.

I remember when I first plugged in my Apollo 1240 and got a black screen. After several prayers and lots of swearing (and a bit of gigglying), it suddenly started working
