Any uses network cards Ami-PC?

I was wondering what options (still) exist to connect my A4000 to my PC. That way I can transfer big files in a swift way from one to the other.

Wasn't there an Ariadne card or something which gave Ami's a 10Mbit Ethernet connection or something?

100MBit PC PCI network cards cost these days $15, but what is still out there for the Ami?

Thanks for sharing any info and eventual sellers of such Ami based network cards!

You can also buy the Highway USB controller with the Norway addon (10MBit Ethernet).

useful URLs

FOUND IT!

X-Surf 2: 90 EURO, fair price I think

http://www.kdh-amiga-shop.com/catalo...roducts_id=149

Or USB+NIC= Algor+Norway: 159 EURO (also fair)

http://www.kdh-amiga-shop.com/catalo...roducts_id=687

More info on: http://www.e3b.de/usb/

Guess I'll give the USB+NIC bundle a go, if it doesn't work, oh well, too bad

It's actually REALLY expensive when you consider the card is actually an old realtek 10Mb ISA card stuck to a Zorro adapter...

Considering anything you buy will be a hack they can charge whatever they want.

Well you can also buy a replacement doughter board with PCI slots on it. Then you can use cheap PCI 100MBit ethernet cards. There are drivers for Voodoo graphics cards, Soundblaster cards, a special USB card called Spider, some TV cards and others.

But I think doughter board + nic will be much more expensive than the X-Surf.

You could also buy a Prometheus which is quite a bit cheaper and just plugs in to an existing zorro slot.

I use a GG2+ board with a PC ISA NE2000 compatible network card.

I don't know where you'd get the GG2+ from these day, but the network card can be ripped out of any extremely old PC, such as ones you find binned outside any office.

You can also use a "normal" Bridgeboard for this, you do not need to use a GG2+ which is quite rare these days

But with a normal Bridgeboard it will be a bit more difficult to set it up and get it working

I have a 286 processorboard in my A2000 plus I can dig up a 16 bit ne2000 compatible isa network card. How hard is it to get the thing connected to my network?

Well, in theory you can do this with ANY Bridgeboard and ANY 10MBit PC ISA Network Card

Basically you must setup a MS-DOS Enviorment with Networking Drivers and then install a software on Amiga side that allows connection between MS-DOS and AmigaOS on the same machine ....

I have a tutorial but its in german, if anyone wants to try with a translation website, have a go -> http://home.arcor.de/kickstart/TKA/T...ard/index.html

GG2+ board works as if the ISA cards are effectively Amiga boards. I'm using it with Miami. It's a normal TCP network. None of this DOS nonsense.

Well the etherbridge solution is a normal ethernet network with SANA-II drivers too. It's just that you need to do some configuring where the GG2+ is just plug'n'play. :-)

I have a GG2+ and it's a cheap way to get my A2000 on the ethernet.. I'd like a real Zorro talking network card, however - the GG2+ requires cyberguard/enforcer to run with the 040/060.. Also, the transfer speeds don't exactly blow me away. :-)
