A1200 OS3.1.4 not seeing CF card
System:
Amiga 1200 OS3.1.4 ROM installed system boots to kickstart screen or boots off floppy successfully I bought a IDE to CF Card adapter and CF card kit from AMIGAstore.edu https://amigastore.eu/en/132-cf-hard-disk-kit-25.html I opened my A1200 and installed the IDE to CF adapter with the supplied 16GB CF card. Installation is just like many tutorials i've seen with the ribbon cables red line closest to the front of the system. I boot off my OS 3.1.4 install disk. No icon for the drive appears on WB. I start HDToolBox in order to partition and format the card as a drive. However, HDToolBox does not detect the drive. Instead of showing the drive it spends about 5 minutes scanning for drives and drive units without finding anything. Have i missed a step? I've never had a HD installed on this system. Could the IDE interface be defective? Suggestions? My plan is to create a small boot partition, then a large partition using PFS. I don't have any fast RAM yet, so i don't think i could use FFS for the large partition. |

Hi,
First make sure the IDE to CF interface is plugged the right way. 2.13 * Why is it that HDToolBox does not allow me to use my CF (Compact Flash) card? This is not a matter of HDToolBox. It happens because the host adapter does not report the card as a "random access device". This is the only device type that allows RDBs. So go and get another CF (Compact Flash) adapter that supports it. This feature is sometimes referenced as "True IDE" by some manufacturers. Hope it helps. |

It seems like a joke ... But you are sure that you have put the cable in place (pin 1 IDE- red cable - Pin 1 CF)
Some time ago I bought that adapted from CF of AMIGAstore and I did not have any problem. |

Yes, i'm sure it's installed properly. I can't believe AMIGAstore would sell me something that didn't work with Amiga 1200's. They put a quality assurance sticker on it and everything. So i'm stuck wondering if it's a motherboard issue. |

I do not think that the CF is defetuoso, but if you do not have another 1200 to prove it, the only option I see is to try another ...
I have put this in a 1200 and it is very practical http://amigakit.amiga.store/product_...oducts_id=1216 |

I tried a SanDisk Ultra 8BG CF card and it didn't work either.

Send an email to Amigastore, asking if they tried the order before sending it and asking for advice. Surely these guys respond to you.
