Resident Evil 1 'demake' for SEGA Genesis/Megadrive

Just when you think you've seen everything lol.. these Russian fellows have been working on a Resident Evil 1 game on the good old SEGA Genesis / Mega drive and it looks pretty awesome! Obviously not 3D but a very cool 2.5D isometric retro conversion of all the rooms, monsters, and characters. I tried out the demo on the Itch page and sadly its waaaaaaay older than the stuff they've been posting over the last few years. Hope they get it done before Capcom's lawyers see it lol.

Recent test demo that looks insane!

Even the music conversions are awesome

Big fan preview showing lots of cool footage (Commentary not in English so I have no idea what's being said)

I hope that encounter with the two dogs gets reworked a little, that looks like an aggravation simulator with really cheap unavoidable attacks.

Oh and they've done a new gameplay video that's been making the rounds in the console forums now too:

This looks f-ing great to me! If they ever finished it imagine it turned up on the Amiga! Has that Escape from the Planet of the Robot monsters view going on.

This should be - according to the screens and video - mostly doable even on OCS/ECS assumed people want to install on Hard Disk- and i would endorse this as killer application to push for an higher adoption of some hard-disk like tech on 500 600 and similar models

Yup. Tech-wise, it looks comparable to an isometric version of Flashback. A 1MB system with a hard drive (or lots of disk swapping) could probably handle this, given sufficient coding wizardry.

The gamecube version was - together with Silent Hill PS1 - among the few games that scared in certain occasion the cr6p off me! (Silent Hill was way more effective, though)
