I stumbled into this weird asian short series called Smoking.

It's... not for the squeamish. If I'd have to sum it up I'd say - imagine Dexter and add Ichi the Killer. Four contract killers (who target only wickedly evil people) prove that they killed their mark by flaying off a giant tattoo that these people have on their backs.

And if they're really evil... they get to live long enough to experience it.

That sound horrible but the show is seeped in really dark humor and just the most crazy and vile looking villains that could have rolled straight out of a manga. You can almost smell them through the TV. And to add a hint of mystery to the show, each episode a tiny amount of backstory is opened up to you as to why these four hitmen came to be the way they are.

It's not for binge watching but every now and then I play an episode to ruffle my own feathers a bit

Saw both seasons of Jack Ryan on Prime Video. Well made, and quite enjoyable series.

While I enjoyed both seasons, I found that season 2 (especially the finale) required a massive suspension of disbelief in order not to just start laughing at how ridiculous it was.

Season 1 was competently done though, and I did enjoy that.

Ending of both seasons is to some extent ridiculous, even in second season more predictable than first season and as you said, laughable. Still enjoyable to watch rambo attack on presidential palace where party bellow can't hear chopper or fight on roof of building. That good sound proof walls of presidential buildings.

It would probably work better if they selected imaginary or some other country.

Not sure if they sacrificed Matice just not to be 100% happy ending.

Other than that small details, still enjoyable. First season was far better, in my own opinion more thanks to far more complicated plot and final motive for multiple things that happened throughout the season.

I really enjoyed it up to the last episode

US soldiers on a mercenary mission into a foreign country? Yeah, can see that happening no problem.

Getting caught interfering in another country's democracy? Yeah, that happens on the regular.

An incursion into a foreign government's seat of power, killing the entire security force and assaulting that country's leader solely to rescue an American that was already in the country illegally? And as you say, via a helicopter that miraculously was not spotted by anyone - not even the military?

Jeez. Even I found that one a bit hard to swallow. And I loved all the Bourne films.

Still, looking forward to S3 and I shall be glued to the TV throughout.

And yes, Treadstone, loving it so far - it expands the origins of Treadstone; I'm guessing that it was developed by using stolen techniques developed by the Russians (probably) and then was used after the Bourne era to inject sleeper agents into all the USA's foreign enemies' populace and now, most predictably, it's going wrong as it always does. Love, love, love it.

If you've not tried it yet, then Watchmen is very, very worth a go - an alternate universe where things are just slightly different to ours (with interdimensional squids raining down) and totally bonkers premise. Loving that too.

Personally I'll also be grabbing The Mandalorian and the new Rick and Morty via my favourite streaming service (cough, cough).

I've been thoroughly enjoying the animation series Final Space on Netflix.

Give it a chance, to my surprise the show is quite engaging. Subtle humor, characters with depth to them, surprising plot twists, it's actually good. I didn't take it very seriously at first because it has a pokemon looking alien in it and some characters are friggin' cats. But... looks deceive.

PS: Rick and Morty season 4 coming to Netflix on December 22nd, at least in my corner of the world. That may not be a worldwide date, the hyenas are in a tug o' war about the broadcasting rights of this show it seems...

I am mid way through last and final season of Marvel's Runaways.

As most of teens thinks that their parents are monsters, what happens if they really are part of secret society and are monsters willing to do anything?? Mix aliens and mutants in all of that, and some unusual things for marvel...

The Witcher on Netflix is finally here. And... it's pretty good! They went all out for this one, in the very first episode you're already treated to a huge battle and they do not hold any punches, expect to see blood and flying limbs.

And season 2 is already in development so this is not a one and you're done.

Personally I wasn't satisfied with the transition to a more international cast of a national treasure like the Witcher after the first 2 episodes in English, but episodes 3 & 4 made up for it, they're very true to the source material, with a minor differences I don't care that much.

Restarted watching with Polish dubbing and it saddens me how much of the "old language", Sapkowski's-style, is missing in the translation or impossible to translate to other languages.
This team did a much better job at it than the the one that translated the game, hell, even after re-hearing all of the Witcher audiobooks the oroginal Polish version of the game by CD Projekt feels... emptier.

Watched the first 4 episodes of Witcher and it's definitely entertaining, but I would say the game was better IMO.

If you're so easily amuzed () wait till you see the last episode!
Just finished watching the first season and loving it, I was rather neutral after the first two eposodes - the opening cgi looked awful but the fight with Renfri awesome, the next episode with that fucking annoying Jaskier was so fucking cut they forgot to include so many things from the "devil incident", but it got WAY better in the next episodes.
Can't wait for more.
New people that might want to get into the story will have a hard time with the chaotic timelines...

The timeline indeed threw me off a little, but that's what makes it engaging. It's not a bad thing that a TV show challenges you to pay attention.

After Marvel's Runaways, watched Marvel's Cloak and Dagger.

End of first season turned into Dead Island game, where everyone was turned into zombie by touch.

Once done will watch 4th season of Expanse and later I have to catch up with Threadstone. 3rd on 'to watch' list is Witcher.

I made little change in plan, so mid-way with Witcher.

Timeline is interesting and took me a bit to figure out that those are actually different timelines. Love that they omit to point some of that stuff on purpose.

They are still much more reserved then HBO series regarding nudity and sex. Too bad.

Why I was expecting to see bunch of Polish or slavs names in list of actors and yet I can't spot single one?! Got confused with Vukodlak, since I heard stories from my grandmother about them.
