That would explain it - that wasn't mentioned anywhere. Thanks.

I'm having a couple of problems with mine when certain games are loaded. I'm kinda new to the Amiga scene so from these videos would this need the timing fix?
It does it on anything with mouse control and even a few non-mouse games. Bubba-Stix, Turrican, Zool (aga version). [ Show youtube player ] [ Show youtube player ] Amiga 1200, ACA1221, 28mhz, 64mb ram, WHDLoad 18.1, WB Classic Lite, 3.0 roms. Last edited by Delbhoy79; 04 October 2015 at 18:50. Looks like it is sprite corruption - of the mousepointer sprite.

Received mine today...yay
question: does -setc0mem work at all? I get an error "-setc0mem not recognised". I know setchip & setfast don't work for the 1221 (maybe that's why setc0mem isn't working). I've successfully used maprom to boot a kick1.3.rom and wanted to see if I could emulate the A500 ram config also. Anyway, very pleased with the card, speeds up the A1200 no end. |

1MByte memory in $00c0.0000 is always active on almost all my accelerators. The ACAtune parameter you're talking about was only valid on the ACA1230, which had the capability to switch this area on/off. However, since there is simply no drawback having that chunk of memory, but lots of advantages (like software *expecting* memory there), that mem is always active on recent accelerators.
A500 "emulation" may be possible, but please note that the original A500 has "ranger mem" in that area. That means: It's not possible to display gfx from that mem, but it's as slow as chipmem. This is a property that the ACA1221 cannot emulate. Jens |

Anyone having a problem with RED screen on a reboot? Red screen goes away after a few seconds. Read it might be due to MAPROM or something, or with KS ROM chips. But the ROMS are fine and it doesn't do that when ACA1221 is removed. I will test to see if it does this with MAPROM disabled...

Funny, because the 123* card I tried didn't work at all on my board, I thought I'd need the timing fix for this too. |

the red screen is an artefact that surfaces from time to time with the 1221. It has nothing to do with map rom and should not be a problem for daily use, since the machine simply continues booting.
Take it as an Easter egg |

Did a bunch of testing and yes disabling the mapROM did not fix the issue. Tested It with a Blizzard 1230 Mark IV and no red screen.

@Sir_Lucas, I sure will. Once I get to spend some decent time with it or overclock it. So far, it's just been the kids using it.
I can say that I haven't needed the timing fix. Maybe that's because the clock speed is so close to native. I might encounter issues when I overclock. But for now, it's an nice ram upgrade allowing me to do much more with workbench and the games seem to run fine. |

I have a question for Jens (or anyone else who may know). For some reason, ACATune does not recognize any of my accelerator cards (ACA1220, ACA1221, and ACA1233) connected to my ACA500. Note that the cards themselves work great (verified via SYSINFO) - it's just bugging me that they are not recognized, and I haven't found anyone else with this issue. For a while, I could not add my license to the ACA1221 because my A1200 keyboard was broken (just received a replacement today - YAY). I should explain - since the ACA1221 is not recognized on my A500 with the ACA500, I temporarily put it on my A1200 where it IS recognized by ACATune.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Stevan |

ACA500 needs an update to use ACAtune (at least for ACA1221), I hope that Jens will release it soon.

ACAtune is not required on the ACA500. All settings that ACAtune makes on an A1200 are done by the ACA500 flash. No need to use ACAtune at all, so it's not just "expected behaviour", but "intended behaviour". No need for a software update of ACAtune.
I need to work through a few other jobs before I can get back to the AC500+ACA1221 issue. Hopefully later this week. A solution is close. Jens |

Jens, any feedback on the red screen issue some of us are having with our A1200s?

Introducing ACA 1221 Low Cost Accelerator At AmigaKit.com
Ok good that is good news. Because as you very well know when you look up the red screen symptom you get some negative feedback, causing you to oddly press down on your Kickstart ROM chips hoping the issue goes away
