Yes, there was a switch on the back you select for Blitz Copy - Maybe unplug the Cyclone -Its probably not as powerful as Cyclone but I thought it was quite good back in the day better than XCopy,DCopy....... wish I still had it

I just got a PC880B drive and unfortunately the software disk have read errors.
It seems to work though but I'd prefer a 100% good image. Does anybody have a working image of the disk ? Disk image is zoned just in case it needs to be repaired.. or can be repaired. Last edited by Retroplay; 17 August 2013 at 19:42. |

Hi Retroplay,
I've just downloaded the disk image you uploaded to The Zone. I'll have a look at it to see what's causing the read errors and whether it can be repaired. |

Thanks.
I have just used used the program to copy and disk and it seems to work fine. Perhaps the affected sectors are unused in the image ? |

You're probably right about the affected sectors being unused in the image if the read errors occur only when you're using a tracksaver program to create an image of the disk. That will mean I can fix the image without needing the original disk. And in that case I'll upload a fixed image as soon as I can get it done. |

Sorry to dig up an old thread! Thought this info might be useful...
I used to have a Power Computing 880B back in the day, but managed to kill the PAL somehow when trying to fit it to an Infinitiv tower  I found another on an auction site a few weeks back with a bad drive, but thanks to the info from sidepipe I've discovered it happily accepts a standard PC drive, as long as the DSKCHG signal appears on pin 2. Simply cutting 2 and 34 on the 880B's internal drive cable, and safely jumpering 34 from the drive over to 2 going to the 880B's PCB seems to bring the PC drive to life! Just thought I'd share this as I loved the 880B and it's a real pleasure being able to use one once again. BTW, where is the Blitzcopy Turbo ADF in the Zone? My drive didn't come with the software, so I'd like the chance to use it again if I can. Anyway cheers for a great thread guys! And : to sidepipe - *nice* hardware |

I have a Blitzcopy Turbo floppy at home, as far as I can remember. I never booted it up as I got it with a Power Computing 880B that never worked (or to be more precise, that I never even looked at One day...) but hopefully it's still working.
Maybe it's even error-free? I'll get a dump of it done next time I'm back in Italy |

Power XL drive patch
Hi Sidepipe, Prowler, Supamax, Eclipse and everyone else that like myself refuse to let their old faithful Miggy die. I was looking for help with my damaged power xl drive damaged lead (the end that plugs into the back of the Amiga) hoping that i can get a picture or diagram of the wiring so I can solder the wires back onto the connector. Anyway while reading I found Prowler needing the highdensity drive files that I still have on my miggy and also winuae on my windoze pc since i copied all my miggy files over so ive put them in my dropbox for you https://www.dropbox.com/s/vxm1fu01wi...patch.zip?dl=0 its mostly self explanatory with putting the file in devs: to your sys:devs folder and the highdensity.patch file from c: to your sys:c folder, since i stopped using my XL drive a lonnngg time ago due to the wiring broken I removed a line to run the highdensitypatch file from the sys:s\startup-sequence so make sure you put that in there, I cant remember exactly where but I think it was after the assigns but before loadwb, I am not 100% sure on that though so but sidepipe may be able to tell you for sure. I remember i had to disable my blizzard 060 to be use the power drive back in the day since I never had the 060 patch files for it. I hope this helps.
p.s. i found some 060 patch files on the net and added them to the zip. Last edited by Samwise Gangie; 28 February 2016 at 20:11. |
