Low Level Format???

i as you may be aware, i'm transfering my HD from A1200 to A600 soon...

the drive at the moment has two partitions DH0: = Workbench(3.7M), DH1: = LocalDisk(55.1M)

running HDToolbox in OS3.0 reports the drive as...

Interface=SCSI, Address=0, LUN=0, Status=Not Changed, Drive Type=ST91000A.. then 07.0

-----
my questions are...

when i run HDTools on OS2.1, should i do a Low-level Format, first...

what is HDSetup/English - do i need to do this?

if you have any info please let me know.... i'm sure i remember something bad, when you do a Low-level format... or am i thinking of something else?????

Don't do a Low Level Format!

HDSetup/English is a hard disk installer for Workbench.

Exclamation

I think if the hard drive is SCSI then you can happily perform a Low-Level format. I know the Amiga will declare IDE hard drives as SCSI when they are not. If your hard drive is IDE then as Cody says do not perform a Low-Level format. Low-Level format destroys IDE hard drives. If my memory is correct.

from what I can remember a SCSI hd has all the controlling software withing the hardware so it can be low-level formatted.

IDE on the other hand has the controlling software on the actual HD, if you low-level it then it is overwritten/erased and the HD then becomes an expensive door-stop!
