Datastorm vs Starray - Which Is Best?
Welcome to the October 2016 edition of Which Is Best?
Last month I placed the two Dynamite Dan games on the ZX against each other. After carefully counting the votes on the main youtube vid and the forums, the end result was DYNAMITE DAN 1 had won this competition by just 2 votes. Final results: Dynamite Dan I = 13 votes, Dynamite Dan II = 11 votes. This month I place 2 excellent Defender clones against each other on the Amiga A500, Datastorm and Starray. Which do you think is the better Defender game?!,...once again only you will decide that Happy voting!!! [ Show youtube player ] Zeus. |

I enjoyed them both. Datastore was more Defender-like, but I loved the parallax scrolling and backgrounds on StarRay, so much so that I even enjoyed watching my mates play it, so I vote StarRay!
Nice vid too. Enjoyed watching it |

Datastorm. Awesome technical achievement to get so many sprites moving so smoothly (the title comes across as subtle boastful lampshade-hanging actually), but also great fun.

Star Ray got a special place for me as i bought it on Atari ST
Graphically Star Ray is more interesting but Datastorm got more kind of enemies and from what i remember about it, the gameplay was funnier and the difficulty higher. If i want to play to a good looking game i will choose Star Ray but if i don't take care and prefer a better gameplay and lot of enemies i will choose Datastorm. Finally i choose Star Ray because the background and the different graphism give the feeling of progressing in the game. |

Well It's all over now, Datastorm defeated Starray by 15 votes to 11, thank you all for voting in last months "which is best" competition.
This month I place two fantastic beat'em-ups ever seen on the 8-bit machines head to head, they are Renegade vs Target Renegade on the 128k ZX Spectrum, please feel free to join in the voting :-D [ Show youtube player ] Zeus |
