Kipper2k's 8MB+IDE: make a slot for the CF card in A500?

This is to not have to open the A500 case just to put some files on the CF card.

I've found zero CF card extender cables for sale on the net.

Has anyone done it? I'd love to see a solution or get tips on what to get and what to do to mod it myself.

Just googling "Compact Flash Extender" I found many pictures and links.
For info once that I found in europe is this: http://store.calexium.com/fr/316-pro...ash-29-cm.html

Not such a cheap price, but unless you can salvage and old or dead CF card and extend every wire by hand... it's your only hope

It is possible for me to make a 44 pin IDE header on the fastmem board and then create a daughter board with the CF socket on it. This would allow CF cards to be inserted/removed without the case opening, I don't know what the interest level would be like for this though

Well, it's a dilemma. It's nice to have everything inside - except removable media No other computer has removable stuff inside a screwed shut case

(BTW, someone should invent stylish case clamps to snap on the sides hehe)

Another dilemma is that if someone makes a nice internal card that places the slot by the case wall, you have to make a cutout.

I would say that someone who has a soldering gun has the means to make such a hole but the basic thing is all other solutions just have the IDE contact, and then you just add flatcable+ IDE to CF adapter for $1.49 from Hong Kong. Then you have options.

The French Extender should do me fine - the cost is just the wrong side of OK actually so I might go for it. Thanks for that link.

Did you have any success with the Compact Flash Extender? I'm looking for something similar for when my A500 & ACA500+ go into a Checkmate A1500 case.
