Disk copiers
Does anyone have newer versions of the following disk copy tools:
ProjectD 1.1 Lockpick v2 Maverick Amiga 5.0 Marauder II Brain File 10 (where is the parameter list for this thing?) These have been a great help in my quest to dump originals. |

OK, I will upload most of this stuff.
ProjectD: while I have v1.1 somewhere, I'll have to dig it up tonight after work. In the meantime, I have handy 1.0, 1.3.1, v2 (5/91), 2.0, 2.1, and 3.16. Marauder II Brainfile 10 (I'll send up the parameter list, as well) |

As for Marauder II, Lockpick and Project D, I do believe those were the latest releases. I could be wrong however.
As for Maverick v5, that I can say was the very latest release. I worked on that product here locally for KJPB. Both the C64 and Amiga versions since day one. Also worked on quite a few of the single disk versions of the old C64 KJPB disks. Ah the good ol days of basic, 6510 and 68k machine code. |

so how did these copiers worked ie RawCopy that removed the protection from the copy? did it read the disk name, and then change a few bytes on a sector?

1) It would check the disk/volume name for sure to match against the master/original copy we had to work with. 2) If the title was file based then the specific file or files that contained the copy protection were checksumed and compared to the known versions of copy-protection in the parameter/patch list. 3) If the checksum matched any of the known copy protection versions then it would apply the patch to appropriate file/files. 4) If the checksum didn't match then a message saying Unknown Version or Unknown Copy Protection would appear. As for sector based titles it would work a little differently in that the app would check specific tracks/sector for the checksum and verify this way or in the case of the Amiga titles that required the Backup Buddy drive then it would just check the boot track and tell you which version it was and have you adjust the speed on the drive accordingly for long track duplication. |

Powercopy (by Geoff Lohere) also uses a hardware dongle that connects between the Amiga and external disk drive. It's dongle is metal (the cyclone is plastic). In practice I've found it much better at copying originals than any other copy program (and I've tried all the ones mentioned above). It also makes use of parameters (like Maverick or lockpick) as well as doing copies like the more traditional disk copiers.

My cyclone cart is grey.
@jmmijo Powercopy was an Australian product, not sure if it was distributed overseas. It has a pretty extensive manual which I can Zone if anyone is interested, however the program won't work without the hardware device which also acts like a dongle (in addition to the copy functionality). @Galaxy, thanks for the info. I guess I understand why the author tied the dongle and program together Too bad it was only an Australian project, back in the day I was a collector of all the Disk Copier's, i.e., I purchased all the originals I could find
@Bippy, I seem to recall plans being put out to allow somebody to silkscreen their own circuit board for the Cyclone, I assume this is how you did it |

Cyclone is simply a few lines swapped. There was a later version with an IC, but AFAIK all it did was allow you to use the drive in normal operation without having to remove it.
