My favorite joystick is still a classic "Competition Pro". I connect it to the PC by using the PC Competitor device.

YES! I had it too! I was not able to play with another joystick! All my friends had stick arcade style! I use it for years, and I have been able to repair it a time! Unforgettable!

I just got three brand new competition pro's today. They are black with red button and the stick. It's the first time I'm using one, they feel better than quickshot ones that I've used for years. I was just looking for arcade style joysticks but the ones available were competition pro imitations and were not comfortable enough.

And guess what the guy who sold me these offered. He said he could sell quickshot pythons twice the price, thinking that they were any better than comp. pros but I had greater pleasure helping him get rid of these useless and cheap competiton pros

He has seven more of them so I won't miss this opportunity to have enough joystick supplies that'll last for my lifetime

My first choice of joystick has to go to the Quickshot II Turbo. I loved this stick although most reviews slated it. It lasted ages as well.

I didn't like the zipstick for anything except driving games.

Hated the bug. It really felt wrong in the hand (to me anyways!)

My favourite controller of all time was a gamepad from the Amstrad GX4000 console. It was basically a rounded and flatter version of the NES joypad and I rewired the second button to duplicate the 'up' on the dpad - this made it absolutely perfect for platformers that use 'up' to jump - like Superfrog!

The 2 buttons were perfect placed for firing and jumping at the same time using just the right thumb. It looks naff but feels just right to me!

The Cruiser!!!

The Zip Stick's buttons stuck, the Cheetah Champion Pro just plain sucked and The Bug could never do up diagonals (maybe mine was faulty?).

For me it was The Cruiser... and I still have it to this day!

Incidentally, isn't that HOTROD identical to the X-Arcade stick?

Quickshot Pro 2 for me, Went through a few though cause it wasn't the strongest of joysticks (Couldn't take a good beating like a PS1/2 pad)

Out of interest does anybody own one of these, Thought about getting one for WinUAE & MAME

The Arcade

This is my favourite joystick. It's called "The Arcade" and was made in the 80's by dutch company STC Rotterdam, who recently merged with Happ Controls. www.clive.nl/images/24225.jpg
Mine has microswitches in the stick and a sturdy leafswitch under the button. There's a rarer one with microswitch in the button too.
My second favourite is the Competition Pro.
I had Quickshot II and Quickshot II Turbos as well but they always broke sooner or later.

At present I have two Sony Dualshock pads connected via an USB adaptor from play.com and The Arcade via a gameport converter I bought in an electronics shop here in Copenhagen.
