@ Alex...
Alex - do you know if... a modded UK Saturn can play a Japanese game that requires a ROM cart? Example - my UK modded Saturn cant seem to play KOF95 with the ROM cart inserted even though I have the Saturn booting up under the Jap settings displaying 60Hz The same game works on an actual Jap Saturn - I have seen it working so I know the game and ROM cart function correctly. Just wondered if you had any idea or experience of this working or not working... |

Hi Steve, trouble is the ROM cart that comes with KOF95 occupies the slot.
I have the mod that enables me to boot the Saturn under a Jap bios but the game and ROM Cart don't want to work - just wondered if it is a recognised problem... I think only very few Saturn Games use ROM cartridges but it would be nice to play KOF95 as it was an excellent release. I don't mean RAM cartridges :-) |

The ROM cart cannot be used at the same time as the Action Replay. K.O.F. 96 should work on your system with a Action Replay Plus Cart as it does not use a ROM cart. (It uses a 1Mbyte RAM cart) If you have a modchip you can of course rip the KOF 95 game disc, mod the region code, and play as usual |

Hi Alex, thanks for your reply - I have a Region Selector, it's the Switch-less type from Console Passions but even booting the Saturn under the Jap Bios I couldn't get KOF95 to work... bit of a mystery...
I have the Action reply Cart also so can play KOF 96 but 95 has become bit of a challenge to get to work now! |

Hmmm with the Saturn region set to JPN the ROM cartridge and the disc should work...
Have you tried cleaning the cartridge connector and the slot... pressing it in harder? You sure that the disc and the cartridge are the same region? |

Make sure you get Nights if you haven't already. Best game on the Saturn by far.

Yes both matched and I tried all different ideas but nothing worked I'm on the look out for another KOF95 now as I sent the other one back to the supplier - he offered me a refund.

Good thread! I'm looking out for a good Saturn bundle at the moment. What is the best console to get with regards to the mod chip, the black button or the round grey button version, if it even makes a difference?

You cannot get modchips for 20-pin (oval buttoned) Saturns anymore.

Where can I get mod-chips for the Saturn anyway?
@Peter: There's also a European release of KOF95 which prevents the hassle with region code crap. |

Visit console passion - they do already modified saturns or will carry it out for you - they also have a new chip which makes it easy to switch between the regions and 50 / 60 display.
I got more saturn from them and it works a treat - They also did my 32x and megadrive - http://www.consolepassion.co.uk/modi...switchless.htm The guy who runs it is very helpful - he will also consider discounts if you have boxed games you want to trade in - although these would be for consoles rather than amiga games - although he was keen on my cd32 titles. |

There is only one place in the UK that I know of and that is Rob Webb. AKA ConsoleGoods.
