Need help creating a 4GB SFS HDF
I'm running WinUAE 2.3.1 with Workbench 3.1. I installed the SFS file system.
I now want to create a 4GB SFS HDF. My problem is that I can't make the HDF appear in HDToolBox. I somewhere read that I have to select "Enable RDB mode" and "IDE0", but that didn't help. So, what's the trick ? |

IDE0 only works if Chipset Extra and KS ROM match and are for an Amiga with IDE controller.
Anyway, check HDToolbox icon information. In the tooltypes there is one reading SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi.device. For IDE0 this should be scsi.device, for UAE it needs to be changed to uaehf.device. In OS 3.9 you can also add the tooltype ASKDEVICE, then you get a list of available drivers when you run HDToolbox. Or run HDToolbox from the emergency disk, it has ASKDEVICE set already. |

My settings in WinUAE for the hdf:
Code:
Enable RDB mode HD-Controller: UAE Boot priority: 0 Surfaces: 0 Reserved: 0 Sectors: 0 Block size: 512 I changed the tooltype to uaehf.device. Now the hdf is at least recognized. It shows: Code:
Interface: SCSI Address: 0 LUN: 0 Status: Unknown In the guide of SFS it says under 2): Code:
Start your Harddisk installation tool, ... go to the screen which allows you to add a filesystem to the disk. Sorry about those questions . I never had problems with that on my real Amiga. Didn't use SFS there, though. |

In HDToolbox go to "change drive type", then click on "define new", on "read configuration" and two times on "ok". Now the "partition drive" button can be clicked.
In the partition menu you should activate the "advanced options" checkbox, then you see the buttons "add/update" which can be used to add file systems to the hard drive and "change..." which is used to change the file system of one partition. "Change..." needs to be repeated for each partition which should be changed. The same steps need to be done for every new hard drive, no matter if it is on a real Amiga or in emulation. The only difference is that the add/update and change things are preconfigured for FFS. "Change drive type" needs to be done anyway. |
