Wanted : Repair for a SX32 Mk II
Hi!
I'm searchin' for a man or a women able to repair an SX32 MkII. Was working great last years but the battery has leak and now it doesn't work with the 8Mo SIMM inserted. Works great if i remove the SIMM I've tried 3 differents SIMM to be sure it's not a faulty SIMM but its' the same. I've removed the battery to clean up the PCB but it's the same I've tried to search bad contact on the PCB to find if a track was damaged but all seems good. I think it's the chip that control the RAM wich is faulty because before it stop working i've got some memory errors in Workbench As i don't have diagram for this hardware, i need someone wich have the ability and knowledge to repair this beast. I can send my SX32 everywhere if needed, as i've asked for AmigaKit & tried to register to Amibay without any answer. Please Help Your price will be mine ( if reasonnable of course ) Attached are picture of the PCB that seems to be damaged if it can help for diagnostic Thanks Last edited by Rochabian; 27 November 2015 at 21:12. Some of the traces look corroded which most likely causes the fault. If AmigaKit can't help, you can drop me a PM. Among other things, I've repaired an SX32 Pro that didn't work due to battery leak.

I think this is a wakeup call to all SX32 (mk1 and mk2) owners (including myself).
AFAIR they have a soldered "leak proof" battery? |

As Hese says, it looks like some of the traces have been corroded. If you have a multimeter trace out where the traces go from/to and check there's continuity between them. I've repaired stuff like that with jumper wires, or by soldering a strand over the damaged bit of track.

I believe I have stored mine in the attic. I think I need to retrieve it ASAP and get that battery off.

hello Rochabian
I have repaired an a SX32PRO for not detecting RAM some time ago, and in that device corroding connections in board wasn't only reason of failure. Some integrated circuits it must be replaced. I suggest You ( if You can ) to solder connections near battery, but if it not helps I can repair this SX32 for You. But You must notice that I have a servicing laptops company http://bgaservice.pl/naprawy-elektroniki-profesjonalnej and I cannot promise You fast diagnosis and repair. Now not standard electronics must wait about 10-15 working days. If you still interested plese write to me using email from my company website : www.bgaservice.pl |

I'm dealing with eab member hese for this repair now. @alexh : yes, have a look at your battery before it leak as it seems to be a well-know problem on SX32 from what i've read |

Does someone know something about this guy "Hese" who lives in Finland. I've send him my SX32 and now no answer.
I think i've been fooled, or perhaps he was injured He has picked up the package in his post office and no answer from mail or PM I am not reassured. He seems to be honest but.... |

Hese is as sound as a pound.
Iirc & if he's still doing the same job, he spends days away from home working, sometimes weeks, but in all the time I ever knew him whilst Modding @ AmiBay years ago, the guy is solid. I'm sure he'll be in touch with you as soon as he can. |

No problem Kin Hell, and i just have news from Hese today
He's been injured in an accident, had surgery and he's plastered now, but he gets well. That's why he doesn't answer. His health is more important than my SX32, so no problem for me, he can take the time he wants to fully recover. I worried because it's not easy to ship your beloved item at 4000km to a guy you don't know about, just exchanging 2-3 PM. Whenever EAB members are passionate and honnests guys, one week without answer once you've shipped the item is a little bit creepy. But that's ok now I hope Hese will be healthy soon because end of the year plastered could be a little frustrating... I'm sure i'll go back to this thread saying how nicely he has done the repair, i've seen some of his older projects on Ami Booth and was quite impressed by his repair. Thanks all |

Ah well. At least it all appears good so far & usually around "most" Amiga forums, it generally ends up well @ the end of things, even if a few waves hit once in a while.
Get well soon Hese. |
