I guess that means this is no longer available and can't find it anywhere else for sale on the internet...

Could some kind soul who has the original CD-ROM please make a full image and upload to the EAB File Server for all to enjoy?
No, it doesn't seem to be available for sale from dealers anywhere else on the net. If no-one else comes up with the goods in the meantime, I'll try to fetch out my original CD and get this done when work and life lets up a bit here.

Floppy disk

Sorry guys, work 'n' life's still pretty busy here at my end. Anyway, I managed to quickly produce two archives with CD images for Payback: (a) bin/cue + CDDA tracks ripped using EAC (Payback_AmigaCD.7z) and (b) bin/cue produced using ImgBurn (Payback_AmigaCD.rar).

Find them in my personal folder on the FTP server. Both untested, so comments/flames are welcome!

I grabbed the Payback_AmigaCD.rar file. Mounted the image and can see / hear all the audio tracks so am sure all will be good.

...busy playing Wings at the moment; such a classic

I would check with APEX first.

Who's APEX?

Sure I can send him a PM to be sure or point him to this thread...

FOL was referring to the game dev/publisher Apex Designs. Probably worth a courtesy email, but I'd be very surprised if they had any plans to sell the Amiga version again now that dealer stock has been exhausted. About 5 years ago they completely removed the shopping cart facility from their redesigned website for the Amiga and other versions of Payback, released Payback 2 a month or two later and since then have simply referred buyers for Payback 2 to the Google Play and Apple stores.

@FOL
I gather that since Payback is not available for pre-order (like other games on the website awaiting stock), that AmigaKit made enquiries with Apex about getting further stock of Payback when they ran out a few years ago?

He refers to rolling Payback into Payback 2. I would check with him just incase. He stopped selling Amiga version, I believe it was because Payback 2 came out.

So today I've been trying to catch up on projects that have been "on the back burner" for some time now (due to more important ones that have needed my attention)...

I've already created myself a bare-bones / self-booting .HDF for OloFight [AGA], see here: OloFight [AGA].

...I then turned my attention to Payback [AmgaCD].

Thank's to my good friend Dr.Bong, who uploaded a complete image, I now have a .HDF in my personal WinUAE collection that has:

a) Audio tracks included / working.
b) The "PaybackUpdate7" applied; see here.
c) The "PBTrainer" applied; see here.

I also create a nice new CLI window that is shown after I double-click on the game icon that gives the trainer details

For the .HDF I created (with mounted CD-ROM), I use the following:
  • CPU = 68030
  • CPU Speed = +300%
  • Chipset = AGA (no "cycle-exact" obviously)
  • KS = KS ROM v3.1 (A1200) rev 40.68 (512k)
  • RAM = 2MB Chip & 32MB Z3 Fast

Not sure I follow, you mean where do you find the .HDF and CD-ROM archive?

On the EAB File Server under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/HDFs"

Correct, just be sure to mount it via WinUAE before starting the game.
