So cool! I'm actually working on a blobber for CNET BBS (specifically the most badass Amiga BBS on the planet, aBSiNTHE.dARKTECH.ORG:23) and hope to have a playable demo soon. The D20 combat and class engine and art that I created for what was going to be called Dungeon Pals already has a tech demo up, but after upgrading an old door game with Eye of the Beholder style Amiga ASCII I decided to merge the two.
I can't wait to play your game to get some inspiration!

Thanks mate! If you use Facebook, you should also get to the "Dungeon Crawlers : RetroGaming" forum, there's lot of feedback there for crawlers devs!
Good luck with your project!

Not sure about the overlay artwork but the rest of the game looks awesome! Sigh... I may need to dig into the kid's university funds for this...

Congrats Marcuz & team!
After many years in development it's really nice to see this game being published!

I really have to ask though. Any thoughts to port this to Amiga? From what I've seen it's perfectly plausible.

Thanks!
Between you and me, thoughts: many.

We even made some research a couple of years ago for a compiler pipeline, under the ground rule that, it would not have been a 1:1 version of the game (mainly, but not only, because we aimed to A1200 Wb3.1.

Consider that the game, currently weighs about 300Mb.
Time required to convert the assets, reducing the scope of the game and create levels from scratch, made us abandon i]that[/i] particular project, for the foreseeable future.

Considering that for me, at least, Aeon of Sands was born from the attempts to build a rpg demo here on EAB and for Amiga, a porting, whatever it could be, it's a dear idea.

We simply cannot make any project about it at this time.

I'm sure he is, but as said, we would still need to basically create a different game, and we have no plan for this now. I can't say about the future.

[edit] I have a clear idea what AoS I would like to do on Amiga; it should be a dungeon crawling only experience (as opposed as a story oriented one) structured as a single dungeon, and oriented to A1200 (or less, if it was possible). And I would like to do it myself, I crave to do the graphic work of turning gui and assets to Amiga format, with low color number etc.

That would mean to create that dungeon plus all the conversion work, months of work. And we don't have even a pipeline for porting the code in place.

On the other side, we worked non stop 7 years, we're tired and have each other big projects on the line for 2019, not strictly game related, and need to support the commercial game we are releasing now, while an Amiga version, with the conditions above listed, would probably not be financially sustainable in any way.

I understand that there are many able coders here, I've talked with many during the almost 20 years I'm on EAB, and I love this community. If and when we were to decide to ask for help, here would be the first place we would look for it

But it will not happen before a long pause, and only if the two of us in the team have the option of working more on this in the future, AoS is like our baby child

Rock, Paper, Shotgun's John Walker previewed Aeon of Sands this week, and focused on how the narrator talks with the player.

Quote:
I’ve never seen a game do any of this so eloquently, and so specifically, while maintaining a sense of humour about it.
Admittedly, I'm not sure throughout the article if he's entirely serious, or if he did a whole feature on the intro because he thought the rest of the game was crap: I don't know!
And in any case, we got plenty of bashing from the rest of the world, on the same subject, so John Walker might be alone in thinking this presentation is good, even if he's 100% honest.

But he went on twitter:

Quote:
Forthcoming post-apocalyptic dungeon crawler Aeon Of Sands delivers its opening lore in a way other games need to copy
So, maybe, for probably very few people, we must be doing something right at least

Anyway, in case you want to make up your own mind, we're out in 17 days!
