A500 Internet Speed Test Website/Tool?
Hi all, just for fun this: My A500+ is on the net, and I can browse a rudimentary web using AWeb.
Are there any speed test tools that would work on A500? Just curious what speeds I'm actually getting! Or a way to calculate it based on ping results perhaps? |

I don´t think any of the modern dsl speedtests will work in any of the ancient browsers we have ....
Best guess would be downloading a bigger file with tools like wget or something like that and compare the download time with PC .... |

I was able to test the Internet speed by downloading a file emailed to myself (as I finally got YAM working on the A500.) Looks like the Plipbox is giving me about 28.8kbps speeds! I'm on fire!
Just for fun, if anyone wants to receive an email from an Amiga 500, you can reach it and me on this machine specific addy: 1984 (at) chrisimpsonlineTEETH.com Remove TEETH before emailing. (Why 1984? Partly a dystopian Orwellian reference, partly when Amiga was first made public.) |

In case you didn't know most Amiga software report speed as CPS (Characters per Second)
You can use this converter here, first highlight the tick box on the left for Character Second. http://convertxy.com/index.php/datatransfers/ You can then put in your numbers that are displayed on the download section of AWeb. It gets abit anoying with downloads generaly in Kb/s but HD transfer in KB/s etc The guy who made the Plipbox has an interesting Blog update. At the min on his hardware it maxes out at 235KB/s in theory it should be able to go to around 700KB/s! http://lallafa.de/blog/2015/09/amiga...st-can-you-go/ |
