It came from the desert: Questions
Hello, this is my first post. I would like to thank everyone who made such a great site possible.
I would like to play It Came From The Desert from Cinemaware, first on WinUAE. I have downloaded the ADF images from Cinemaware and as we know, the 3rd disk has a checksum error and therefore the BACKS1 file can't be copied onto the harddrive. Can someone please post a working 3rd disk to the zone? Second, I used to install and play the game from HD when I had an Amiga. As far as I remember, I used to copy each floppy's contents to directories and giving them assigns in user-startup. Is this enough to play the game? Third, I have a CD32. Is it possible to prepare a CD and burn it, so I can play the game on my CD32? Would be great Last but not least, what is the data disk of Antheads: It Came From The Desert II called? When I try to launch the game, it requests REL4 in any drive. No, the disk is not called Desert4. What is it? |

In the disk 1 the game have an HD install, (execute HD_INSTALL) and the game are ready to play, But the assign sistem work too, assign the name of the 3 disks and copy the contained files to HD, look the startup-sequence (you need assign DES4: and copy some files to RAM

Hello again, thanks for the helpful answers.
@jamie, thanks for the upload. Unlike the official Cinemaware ADF, your version has a HD_INSTALL on Disk1 and there is no problem with the installation, except the Disk3 has the same BACKS1 checksum error on block 17 (damn!). Anyone has an error-free Disk3 please? @killergorilla Where to get the WHDLoad version? |

All of the WHDLoads can be found at:
http://guildserver.co.uk/kgwhd/ To run this you must be using WHDLoad - this is available from: http://www.whdload.de Basically the WHDLoads on KG's site are the entire games - you will need to get them from the PC to the Amgia somehow (unless you have networking on the PC) and unarchive them. If you want something that has WHDLoad, Directory Opus and a lot more stuff combined in then I recommend: http://classicwb.abime.net M. |

@Macca, thank you very much! I will try your suggestions!
And for your info, I looked up at www.planetemu.net and THIS file has no checksum errors: It Came from the Desert (1989)(Cinemaware)(Disk 3 of 3).adf |

In this case it'd probably be better downloading the individual game from:
www.whdownload.com I like your info though, all GREAT sites Quote:

Hmm, despite I use usual A1200 configuration, I get first a recoverable alert and then a software alert after Selecting Yes after intro screen. Is this normal?

I gave up with manual installations and installed the WHDLoad version. It runs fine so far, God I felt the same horror feeling like years ago. This game scares me to death

I've seen that you've solved your issues now by using the WHDLoad version

You didn't read any of the threads I linked to then... Oh well Quote:

Hi DamienD, right, I did not know that planetemu exists. As I said, even after downloading a working 3rd disk, I had crashes after the game intro. I guess it is related to that I insisted on playing the game on my 1200 configuration. WHDLoad kicks a A500 rom so it works this time. Thanks a LOT for your help.
