Game Save help needed with Mindscape's Legend

Hi folks! I'm a first time poster, and (hopefully) a nice easy noob type question to kick things off.

I've found the rather classic Legend by Mindscape (see the Hall of Light info page ) but unfortunately I can't get it to save.

I'm using WinUAE, and I've tried:
- "Create Standard Disk"
- "Create Custom Disk"
and "inserted" the image into DF0 when the game requests it.

With both the above attempts it just said "Insert game save disk" and seemingly didn't recognise the disk.

I made sure "Write-protected" was not checked.

Is there something blindingly obvious I'm missing? (e.g. does the disk image I created need to be formatted using Workbench or something?)

Can any of you experts out there help a poor nub please?

hmm... i know legend is by the same people as Bloodwych, and the save disk on that is a pain-in-the-arse... but maybe the same solution will work?

create a custom ADF on winuae

if it will let you without it freezing, format it on workbench... i never had such luck though.

i had to format using the ActionReplayIII rom .

after this, it worked fine... if a little slowly.
perhaps it will work for Legend too?

You could just use savestates (see misc tab of winuae), but if you really want to use a savedisk then the blank disk you create must be labelled GAMESAVE, you can either rename an existing blank disk in workbench or when creating a blank disk in winuae, just put GAMESAVE as the disk label.

Aha - brilliant! Save states has sorted it.
